This year, the Polish Power Exchange celebrates the fifteenth anniversary of its operations. The
company is the major platform for wholesale exchange trade in electricity and is in the process of
building such position on the gas market. As a public trust institution, the Exchange ensures security
of trading and transparent transaction and commodity pricing procedures.
The development of the Exchange and its initiatives would not materialize if it was not for the trust
that market participants placed in POLPX having jointly built the wholesale market for electricity
Poland since the year 2000, and for gas since 2012. Undoubtedly, the presence of a strong
shareholder being the largest stock exchange in the region, i.e. WSE, cannot be overrated, as it
actively supports the Company in the pursuit of its policies.

development of the Exchange. It is thanks to the commitment and determination of many that today
our industry may enjoy access to the instruments offered by a well-functioning, competitive market” –
said Ireneusz Łazor, President of the Management Board of POLPX

Power Exchange came up with this initiative to trigger a broader public debate on the functioning of

unbiased view on the process of the energy sector liberalisation. The competition was open for
publications made in 2014 and concerned with the electricity or gas market. PGNiG S.A Polskie

Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. (TGE) powstała pod koniec 1999 roku. Jest jedyną licencjonowaną giełdą energii w Polsce.
Działalność operacyjną rozpoczęła 30 czerwca 2000 roku. Uruchomienie TGE było jednym z pierwszych działań w kierunku
liberalizacji polskiego rynku energii elektrycznej i prywatyzacji sektora elektroenergetycznego. Od lutego 2012 r. TGE jest
wyłączną własnością Giełdy Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie.
TGE prowadzi rynki: energii elektrycznej (Rynek Terminowy Towarowy - RTT, Rynek Dnia Następnego - RDN, Rynek Dnia
Bieżącego - RDB) oraz gazu (RTT, RDNg), a także Rynek Praw Majątkowych. Jest obecnie najbardziej dynamicznie
rozwijającą się giełdą towarową w regionie. Potwierdza to przynależność do organizacji EUROPEX, promującej idee
konsolidacji rynków energetycznych poprzez połączenia transgraniczne i zrzeszającej wszystkie towarowe i finansowe giełdy
energii w Europie.
o 5,6% w porównaniu do 2013 r.). Na parkiecie gazu ziemnego łączny wolumen obrotów osiągnął 111,6 TWh, co oznacza, że
wzrósł w odniesieniu do wolumenu z 2013 r. prawie 47-krotnie. Na rynku spot gazu (Rynek Dnia Następnego gazu oraz
Rynek Dnia Bieżącego gazu) – handel paliwem osiągnął wartość 6,6 TWh (15-krotny wzrost w stosunku do 2013 r.), a na
Rynku Terminowym Towarowym - 105 TWh (53-krotny wzrost w porównaniu do 2013 r.).
