The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to Her Assumption. It is located in the square between Piwna St., Chlebnicka St. and Św. Ducha St. From the side of Mołtawa River, Mariacka St. leads directly to one of the church gates. The St. Mary Church is the biggest brick temple in the world. Built in 1346-1506, the church is an example of Brick Gothic, a variation of the Gothic architecture widespread in the countries of the Baltic Sea Basin.
