ZACHEUSZ
Przypadek Zacheusza świadczy o tym, że nawet najbardziej uwikłany w swoją historię,
uwarunkowania i grzechy człowiek może zmienić siebie, swoje życie i swoją przyszłość.
Zacheusz, jako zwierzchnik poborców podatkowych, był kolaborantem i wysługiwał się okupantom,
dlatego spotykał się z zasłużoną pogardą i niechęcią, a nawet bojkotem ze strony Żydów. W dodatku
musiał być skorumpowany i nieuczciwy. Być może duże pieniądze miały mu zrekompensować brak
szacunku i osamotnienie. A jeszcze na dodatek był niskiego wzrostu, co prawdopodobnie musiało
przysparzać mu kompleksów i poczucia śmieszności. W odpowiedzi ludzie nim gardzili, oskarżali go o
wzbogacanie się ich kosztem i wykorzystywali każdą okazję, aby dotkliwie dać mu to odczuć. A
przecież Zacheusz był normalnym człowiekiem, spragnionym ludzkich uczuć, szacunku, zrozumienia,
przyjaźni. Chciał tego, ale po ludzku było to niedostępne. Dopiero pogłoska o Jezusie, który miał
odwagę spotykać się z celnikami, a nawet przyjmował ich zaproszenie do stołu, zrodziła w nim jakąś
nadzieję. Zapragnął spotkać Jezusa za wszelką cenę. Był gotów zaryzykować wszystko, by wyłamać
się z trybów machiny społecznego potępienia.
Symbolem tego pragnienia było wdrapanie się na drzewo, czyli przełamanie wszelkich schematów i
ograniczeń. Na pewno naraziło go to na publiczne ośmieszenie i pozbawiło resztek autorytetu, a raczej
respektu, opartego na strachu wobec władzy. Zacheusz utracił bezpowrotnie swoją pozycję i
możliwości, ale osiągnął to, co chciał. Chrystus dostrzegł go i docenił jego gotowość zmian i
nawrócenia. Na kredyt udzielił mu zaufania i zaszczycił swoją obecnością przy stole. To
bezwarunkowe zaufanie rozbudziło w Zacheuszu nie tylko nadzieję, ale także poczucie własnej niegodności i pragnienie pokuty i zadośćuczynienia. Stąd jego odważna decyzja poczwórnej restytucji i
hojnej ponad miarę jałmużny. Zacheusz utracił tego dnia wszystko, na czym dotąd budował swoje
życie i wątpliwe poczucie wartości. Ale za tę cenę uzyskał coś, czego nie da się kupić za żadne
pieniądze: szacunek dla samego siebie i poczucie własnej godności.

GOD IS WITH US
The book of Wisdom tells us that the spirit of God is in all things. What a wonderful thought, and what
a wonderful image to keep in front of us as we travel down life’s road. For if the path is revealed in the
treading, it’s good to know that God is with us - and all around us - every step of the way. But Paul
knows that this divine presence is not timid. Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we, along
with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call. And who knows more about God’s call than
Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called him out of a tree, for goodness’ sake. Or perhaps more
correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today’s Gospel reading,for heaven’s sake.

Just a reminder, the Annual Mass attendance count will be Oct.29/30 to Nov. 5/6. The count from Oct 15/16 –
5pm 72, 9:30am 52, 11am 68, Oct 22/23 – 5pm 62, 9:30am 70, 11am 69, please try to attend the weekend Mass.
The month of November is a reminder for us to pray for our deceased loved ones. If you wish to include them
during the weekday Masses in November please use the “All Souls” envelopes and drop them off in the collection
basket.
Prayers for our deceased family members and parishioners will be said on Sunday Nov. 6th at 12:15pm in the
mausoleum of Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. All are invited.
Earlier this month there was a very positive response to the Extraordinary Form Holy Mass. Bishop Fabbro
has given his blessing to have another Low Mass on the First Friday of November (4th) at 7 pm at St. Joseph's
Church, 293 Stuart St., Sarnia. The Extraordinary Form is offered according to the Rites of 1962 Roman Missal.
That is the Holy Mass as before Vatican II in Latin and with both priest and people facing the same way. All are
welcome.
St. Peter's Seminary invites you to a discernment retreat for men 17 - 45 years old considering a call to the
priesthood. This weekend offers a firsthand experience of the life of a seminarian, spiritual helps for discernment and
an opportunity to meet current seminarians and faculty. The weekend is scheduled for Nov. 4th - 6th. For more

Bishop Fabbro is asking the people of the Diocese of London to bring relief to survivors of the hurricane in Haiti.
The Diocese will send all funds collected at the parish level to Development and Peace to ensure a timely response.
Cash and cheques will be accepted; please mark cheques and envelopes: Haiti Hurricane Relief Fund. Along with the
funds, prayers are urgently needed at this time for the victims and their families.
It is a tradition in the month of November to pray for loved ones who have passed away. Everyone is welcome to
join us for our 16th Annual Cemetery Sunday Prayer Service on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at
Resurrection Mausoleum, 1885 London Line, Sarnia. The celebrant will be Father Steve Marsh.
During the month of November we will pray the rosary for our deceased loved ones – 30 minutes before each
weekday morning Mass. Please use the “All Souls” envelopes and drop them off in the collection basket.
The Feast of All Saints honours all the saints of the Church, known and unknown. The feast of All Saints should
inspire us with tremendous hope. Among the saints in heaven are some whom we have known, who all lived lives like
our own. They were baptized, marked with the sign of faith, were faithful to Christ's teachings, and have gone before
us to the heavenly home from where they call on us to follow them. Masses on that day will be celebrated at 8:00a.m.
(English) and 7:00 p.m. (Polish).
On the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day) we remember in a special way our loved
ones who have died, and the reality that we ourselves must one day die. This truth is brought home to us - not in a
frightening or intimidating way, but as a gentle, insistent reminder. On that day Masses will be celebrated at the
Church at 8:00 a.m.(English and 7:00 p.m.(Polish).
On Sunday, November 6th, Daylight Saving Time ends and clocks are moved back one hour to standard time.
CWL is having their traditional fall Bazaar on November 12 between 8:30 and noon at the Polish Hall.
As usual you can buy pierogi, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut and bake goods.This year the Ladies Auxciliary are also
selling turkey pies. If anyone would like to donate some baked goods, it would be greatly appreciated. Please bring
them on Friday, Nov.11 between 6-7pm. to the Parish Hall or on Saturday morning to the Polish Hall.
The profit from the Bazaar goes to help our parish and to various other charities.

As a community, our belief in the incarnation has drawn us to appreciate the sacredness of created matter. This is
especially true for those items and articles that have been set aside for worship.
From time to time rosaries are irreparable, ritual texts are out of date, statues are broken, et cetera. Out of respect
for the manner in which they led us closer to God and to recognize their holiness, we bury them, in a similar way with
which we bury a body.
The Catholic cemeteries of our diocese are willing to bury these items on our behalf, at no charge. To facilitate this
process, I encourage you with your parishioners, to drop off old ritual texts and other items that need to be buried by
Friday, November 25, 2016. We will open burial plots in these locations to meet this need.

Tradycyjny jesienny bazar Ligi Katolickich Kobiet odbędzie się 12 listopada . Bardzo prosimy o poparcie . Dochód z
bazaru przeznaczany jest na potrzeby naszej parafii i cele charytatywne. Jeżeli ktoś chciałby nas wesprzeć pysznymi
wypiekami, będziemy bardzo wdzięczne. Ciasto można przynieść do sali parafialnej w piatek , 11 listopada, między
6-7 wieczorem lub rano w sobotę do Polskiej Hali. Serdeczne " Bóg" zapłać" za wszelka pomoc.

Znanych i anonimowych, dawnych i współczesnych świętych Kościół katolicki uroczyście wspomina 1 listopada.
Uroczystość Wszystkich Świętych winna być jednym z najbardziej radosnych dni dla chrześcijan. Uroczystość
Wszystkich Świętych nie jest - wbrew spotykanym niekiedy opiniom - "Świętem Zmarłych", ale wyraża powszechne
powołanie do świętości. Wskazuje na hojność Pana Boga i pogłębia nadzieję, że wszelkie rozstanie nie jest
ostateczne, bo wszyscy są zaproszeni do domu Ojca. Razem jednak Dzień Wszystkich Świętych i Dzień Zaduszny
przypominają prawdę o wspólnocie Kościoła, obejmującej świętych w niebie, pokutujących
w czyśćcu i żyjących jeszcze na ziemi. Wśród tych trzech stanów Kościoła dokonuje się - poprzez modlitwę, pamięć
czy ofiarę - ciągła wymiana dóbr duchowych. W tej łączności (komunii) wyraża się świętych obcowanie.
1 listopada Msze św. będą odprawione o godz. English 08:00, Polish 19:00.
Wspomnienie Wszystkich Wiernych Zmarłych Kościół obchodzi 2 listopada. Kościół w tym dniu wspomina
zmarłych pokutujących za grzechy w czyśćcu. Chodzi więc o dusze, które zeszły z tego świata w łasce uświęcającej i
są w przyjaźni z Bogiem, lecz nie mogą wejść do nieba, gdyż mają pewne długi do spłacenia Bożej sprawiedliwości.
Kościół przychodzi z pomocą duszom czyśćcowym zanosząc prośby przed tron Boży szczególnie w tym dniu. Aby
przyjść z pomocą zmarłym pokutującym w czyśćcu, żyjący mogą od 1 do 8 listopada uzyskać odpusty zupełne.
Kapłan modli się w tym dniu nad darami tymi słowami: "Spraw, Boże, aby nasi zmarli bracia mogli wejść do chwały
z Twoim Synem, który łączy nas wszystkich w wielkiej tajemnicy Twojej miłości". W tym dniu pamiętamy o
naszych najbliższych zmarłych i dlatego pochylamy się nad ich mogiłami i spełniamy uczynek miłosierny, co do
duszy, modląc się za naszych zmarłych. Zapraszamy na Msze św. o godz.English 08:00, Polish 19:00.
