Description of useful experimental techniques for characterizing the structure and mechanical properties of solids at different scales – Applications to solid surfaces. Description of the finite element method (meshing, choice of the boundary and initial conditions, mechanical properties, Analysis post-calculation…). Discussion about the use of experimental data as input data of numerical simulation or as output data to validate calculations. Zajęcia seminaryjne Numerical Simulation and experimental methods for mechanical characterization of solids Laboratory classes embrace: 1. Introduction to MATLAB programming language. 2. Numerical methods for matrix operations (addition, multiplication, calculation of matrix determinant etc.), systems of linear, non-linear equations and systems of nonlinear equations. Implementation in MATLAB environment (built-in functions and custom code). 3. Numerical integration. 2/4 Karta modułu - Experimental methods and numerical simulation for mechanical characterization of solids: application to surfaces 4. Numerical methods for differential equations and system of thereof. 5. Preparation of a numerical model (based on an example). 6. Definition of boundary and initial conditions, Meshing. 7. Definition of input / output data. 8. Selection of experimental methods to have input data and to validate assumptions of the model. 9. Numerical calculations. 10. Post-analysis. Sposób obliczania oceny końcowej The final grade is the average of the grades obtained from exam and seminar classes.
