NEODIDAGMATA 29/30 – 2007/2008
ABSTRACT. Denek Kazimierz, Związek edukacji z wartościami [The relation between education and values]. „Neodidagmata”
29/30, Poznań 2008, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 25-38. ISBN 978-83-232-1908-8. ISSN 0077-653X.
The word ‘value’ refers in education and educational disciplines to what an individual, a social group think highly of, what is regarded as
significant, and what is experienced as significant. Questions about the status and existence of value have not brought solutions. The
ontological status of value depends on what we consider its essence.
In gaming, attempts to define value appear to be ineffective. It may be worth explaining with constitutive features which goes
into its essence. Constructive and universal values are crucial for education and educational disciplines. They are subject of
argument escalated by postmodernism. Does the contemporary individual experience a value crisis? Or maybe it is a crisis of
the individual, not the value?
Values take an important position in the lives of young Poles. Values decide about their existence, sense and quality of living, interpersonal
relations, relation to themselves, peers, parents, teachers and the world. Thus, values in education and educational disciplines require
regaining their proper position and sense.

ABSTRACT. Muffoletto Roberto, Shifting the center to the margin: online learning and systems of control, “Neodidagmata” 29/30,
Poznań 2008, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 39-54. ISBN 978-83-232-1908-8, ISSN 0077-653.
This essay will argue that before we can fully understand the potential of the existent and emerging communication and
information technologies for online distance education, we need to consider their impact on schooling, teaching and learning.
The conversation on distance education must be grounded in the historical, social, economic, and political interests related to
developed and emerging networked digital systems that guide the visions and definitions of education, if not reality. Not to do
this, will continue to repeat the past, the unfulfilled promises of education and media, and to relive history. To accomplish this
is no simple matter, for to unpack and understand reality, its history and current practices, and to break from the commonsense discourse on schooling, is complex and demanding. It might be best said that this essay will stake out the territory, the
map to be covered, and not provide answers to questions that need to be asked. Even though the perspective offered is one
informed through experiences and reflections with the educational system found in the United States, there are similarities
found in most western countries. In the end, this essay will consider two paths for education relative to networked digital
media and Internet based distance education.

ABSTRACT. Strykowski Wacław, Kąkolewicz Mariusz, Ubermanowicz Stanisław, Kompetencje nauczycieli edukacji medialnej
[Competencies of media education teachers]. „Neodidagmata” 29/30, Poznań 2008, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 5575. ISBN 978-83-232-1908-8. ISSN 0077-653X.
The media education is a new field of teaching in Polish schools. The main problems in introducing the new subject, especially
if it is so interdisciplinary and delivered across the curriculum of other school subjects, is how to prepare teachers and what
competencies they should have.
In the article, the authors deal with the last problem and consider it from two different perspectives. One is analytical and
comes out from more traditional division of media and communications channels, the other can be described as holistic. So two,
analytical and holistic, lists of media teacher competencies were formulated and they are preceded by the short analysis of new
trends in information technologies and general goals of media education.

ABSTRACT. Przybyła Tomasz, Programy typu reality show – perspektywa edukacyjna [Reality show programmes – educational
perspective]. „Neodidagmata” 29/30, Poznań 2008, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 141-147. ISBN 978-83-232-1908-8.

We all live in the world that is being created by media reality and the typical spectator more and more often identifies the mass
media transmission with the truth. Media evolves around us all creating the new shows all the time. This is how the reality
show was created – the ‘mega’ kind of all the shows. Although not real, those programmes for lots of us are so close that they
become a part of our ordinary lives. We, as the viewers assume different roles – a spectator, judge, the other time a patient or
even a therapist.
In my researches I will take the challenge to verify to what extent people watching the mentioned shows consider them as
needed production – in an educational perpective. I create the list of the reasons to watching those shows, based on the
statements of people I study. I show that young people do not know what to do with their spare time, and are either unable to
find appropriate authority in the surrounding world or are aware of people who set a good example but choose the ‘easy life’,
life with no values.

The article contains a theoretical analysis of the child’s school situation, and a program proposition “My school world” based on
that situation. The school situation as a comprehensive experience of the student is discussed. It is presented through the
attitude towards the school, child’s characteristics understood as features of his/her cognitive development, as well as the social
aspect. The attitude to school is influenced by the level of school maturity and the child’s sense of success and failure.
Motivation, school fear and relations with peers and teachers are important in the following years. The teacher’s recognition of
those functional areas allows him/her to influence its change, and consequently the shaping of the motivated, i.e. those young
people who work eagerly and feel well at school.
