Report of the Jury Proceedings of the 2nd International Composing Competition
Fide et Amore
for the organ piece of music commemorating the 1050th anniversary of the
Christening of Poland (May- August 2016)
The competition, addressed to composers from Poland and abroad, was organized
within
10th Jubilee Festival of Religious Output Fide et Amore commemorating the 1050th
anniversary of the Christening of Poland
1. The meeting of the jury took place on the 31st of August 2016 at the Karol
Szymanowski Music Academy premises in Katowice. In the meeting
participated all the jury members together with the festival art director Rev.
Wiesław Hudek, Ph.D.
2. For the competition there arrived 9 scores.
3. All the scores, which were passed on to the jury members in accordance with
the set of regulations of the competition, were anonymous scores labelled
with a symbol and all met the formal condtions.
4. The jury, consisting of : Prof. Władysław Szymański . – the chairman, and the
members: Prof.Aleksander Lasoń, Rev. dr hab. Grzegorz Poźniak, dr hab. Jacek
Glenc, Henryk Botor, Ph.D decided to grant the following awards and
distinctions:
The first award receives the work IANUA, symbol KAG2016;
The second award receives the work SEKWENCJA, symbol LAETARE;
The third award receives the work JUBILUS, symbol MAQAM.

The jury decided also to grant three equal distinctions of honour to the
following pieces of work:
- work ARIA, symbol ARIAFEA,
- work WIELKA LITANIA, symbol ANONIM,
- work ASPERGES ME, DOMINE, symbol NINI.
5. After opening the envelopes it turned out that the awards and the distinctions
of honour were granted to the following participants of the competition.
The first award receives Michał Schäfer (Gliwice);
The second award receives Piotr Wierzchałek (Katowice);
The third award receives Przemysław Szczotka (Katowice).
Distinctions of honour receive:
- Paul Ayres (Greenford, Wielka Brytania);
- Aleksander Jan Szopa (Warszawa);
- Mateusz Peciak (Kraków).
