The procedure for developing and periodical
reviewing of curricula

§1
1. The procedure defines:
a. detailed principles for the development and periodic review of curriculums,
b. documentation of the curriculum, acting
as a foundation
for approval, implementation,
evaluation and improvement of the program.
2. The procedure involves curriculums for bachelor, master and doctoral levels of studies.
3. Enrolment procedures result from:
a. the provisions contained in the Law on Higher Education, hereinafter referred to as "the
Law"
b. Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on the conditions for conducting
studies in a certain direction and level of education, hereinafter referred to as the
"Regulation"
c.
criteria for the program evaluation and institutional Polish Accreditation Commission.
4. The purpose of the procedure is to:
a. regulate, support and ensure quality and continuity of the design, evaluation and
improvement processes of the curriculums,
b. provide guidelines for those involved in the above. process,
c.
provide the highest quality curriculums implemented in the University and their continuous
improvement.
§2
The educational program for a particular course and level of education and for a specific educational profile
or profiles includes:
a. a description of the intended learning outcomes,
b. study program, which is a description of the learning process leading to obtain these effects.
§3
Responsibility in the development and periodic review of curriculum
1. Academic teachers responsible for particular subjects or educational modules - develop
and
annually update syllabi items.
2. Heads of the didactic units - approve course syllabi, report proposals for changes in curricula
and/or new curricula to the Dean.
3. Faculty Curriculum Councils - develop new curricula, make annual review and evaluation of
existing curriculum programs, develop, and report proposals for changes to the existing curriculum
programs to the Dean.

4. Student Council - issues opinions on new curriculums and changes to existing curricula, reports
proposals for changes in curriculum programs to the Dean.
5. Dean and Faculty Boards - approve
new curriculums and changes to existing curriculums,
including plans to study for a given academic year.
6. Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs - approves the plans of study for the academic year.
7. University Senate - approves the learning outcomes for a given field of study.
8. Pedagogical Councils of the Faculty - make annual analysis of student learning outcomes in a
given year of studies, including in terms of achieving the desired result and the adequacy specified in
the rules of student assessment and report proposals for changes in curriculums to the Dean.
9. Faculty Quality of Education Committee - performs an annual assessment of achievement of
learning outcomes for courses at the Faculty (based on learning outcomes and student progress,
questionnaire surveys of the students, graduates and employers, protocols and Pedagogical
Programme Councils), reports proposals for changes in curriculums to the Dean.
§4
In the process of development and periodic review of curriculums, opinion of stakeholders from the
external Universities is taken into consideration. Employers report comments to curriculums through their
representatives in the Faculty Curriculum Council, Faculty Quality of Education Committee and/or the
University Council of Employers, as well as by questionnaire surveys of employers.
§5
During the development and periodic review of curriculums, special attention should be paid to:
1. In the case of non-regulated courses:
a. Whether the subject effects are detailed in relation to the study area effects and whether
they are consistent and relevant to the field of study?
b. In the case of studies at the bachelor and master levels carried out in the same field,
whether the subject effects of postgraduate studies reflect the expected advancement of
knowledge and skills of students?
c.
Whether the subject effects have been defined in such a way that it can be said that they will
be achieved by the student (are they concrete, verifiable and measurable)?
2. For all fields of study: Whether the division of courses and/or modules clearly reflects the logic of the
structure of the curriculum?
§6
Documentation of curricula
1. Documentation related to the curriculum should consist of the following elements:
a. the general characteristics of the conducted studies, b) a description of the intended learning
outcomes,

b. a description of the study program,
c.
a description of the conditions of implementation of the curriculum,
d. supplementary information.
2. The scope of documentation is contained in Appendix 1 to this procedure.
3. Documentation prepared by the Program Councils is approved by the Dean of the Faculty.
§7
Courses syllabi
1. For each subject covered in the curriculum there should be syllabus developed.
2. University-wide syllabus model, consistent with the syllabus in the electronic E-syllabus system, is
presented in Appendix 2 to this procedure.
3. Syllabi should be made available to students at least one day before the start of the academic year.
§8
The E-Syllabus System
1. In order to strengthen and regulate the process of managing programs and learning outcomes at the
Medical University of Warsaw, including greater transparency and standardization of syllabus
subjects and increase in effectiveness of analysis related to the evaluation of the quality of the
curriculum and the price of achieving the intended learning outcomes, electronic system called Esyllabus is introduced in the University.
2. Syllabi for the academic year of 2015/2016 are developed with the use of E-syllabus.

The procedure was consulted with the academic community of the University.
