SEEING THROUGH
Today’s readings invite us to look more
deeply, to catch a glimpse of Divine Reality
hidden within the “stuff” of life. God challenged the elderly Abram and his wife to
leave home for a land that God would show them. Their eyes
would see the land, but only God could “show” it as a divine
gift. Paul reminded Timothy that God’s grace had always been
available, but in Jesus Christ was made “manifest.”
Jesus called Peter, James and John up the mountain and was
“transfigured” for a moment, the radiance of God shining
through. Then, just as abruptly, the three looked up . . . And
saw only Jesus.
During Lent we’re invited to “see through” to God’s presence in the stuff of life: prowling the supermarket, waiting in
traffic, arguing with the kids, cleaning the bathtub. We wouldn’t really have to “do” anything, if we could only glimpse divine love supporting us, holding us together.

PARTNERS IN CHARITY 2014
In-Pew Sunday in our parish for the Annual Partners in Charity Appeal will take place next Sunday. We will have the opportunity to assist the charitable, educational and ministerial
mission of the Catholic Church throughout the diocese by making a pledged gift during in-pew solicitation. In doing so, we
will unite our diocesan family and become partners in charity
and partners with Christ. Though the diocese has a goal, and
our parish has one as well, the most important goal is that every
family join in putting Our Faith in Action in providing for the
charitable works of the Church. Please pray to Blessed Pope
John XXIII and Blessed Pope John Paul II, our patrons for our
success. Our Parish Goal for 2014 is $25,000.

SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH
On March 19th, St. Joseph Basilica will celebrate the Feast
Day of St. Joseph, our Patron with a Solemn Mass at 7pm.. We
will conduct a Triduum to St. Joseph beginning Sun., Mar. 16th
and also on Mon. & Tues. morning. Since St. Joseph Church
was granted the dignity of a Basilica, therefore on the 19th of
March you will have the opportunity to obtain a Plenary or
Partial indulgence under usual conditions. Confessions will be
at 6:30pm.
On the Feast of St. Joseph traditionally all people come to
celebrate this special day in the life of our parish community.
Considering the Lenten Season and a lot of issues we seek
God’s help through the intercession of St. Joseph for our parish
family and school.
We invite all parish ministries especially
members of our Basilica Parish Council to be present.
1-25 CLUB NEWS
The 1-25 Club grand prize winners drawn at the March 8th

MEETINGS
P.A.C.C. - will hold its Quarterly Member Meeting on Sun.,
Mar. 16th at 1:00pm at the club on Harris Street.
Festival Committee-will meet on Monday, March 17th at
7:00pm at the rectory. We ask all chairpersons and parishioners
interested in sharing their ideas and suggestions to attend this
important meeting.
Consultative Educational School Board-next meeting to be
held on Tuesday, March 18th at 6:30pm at the rectory.
PILGRIMAGE TO OUR BASILICA
On Sunday, March 23 we will welcome pilgrims from the
Hartford Archdiocese to our Basilica. They will participate in
11:00am Mass followed by lunch in the school cafeteria and
Lenten devotions at 3:00pm.
We invite all parishioners to join us. I kindly ask our parishioners to “show case” their array of treats as dessert for our
luncheon guests.
ANNUAL PRIESTHOOD DISCERNMENT RETREAT
The annual Priesthood Discernment Retreat directed by
Bishop McManus will take place on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at Immaculate Conception Retreat Center in Putnam, CT. This retreat center is only 30 minutes from Worcester. The retreat will begin with dinner at 6:00pm on Friday
evening and will conclude with dinner at 6:00pm on Saturday
evening. Between those hours, various presentations will be
offered about parish priesthood and vocation discernment.
There will also be time for prayer, discussion, relaxation, meals
and Mass. There is no cost to you for this retreat and roundtrip
transportation from Worcester is provided. Contact Fr. Jim

41ST PARISH FESTIVAL-JUNE 13, 14 & 15
The major attraction of our Festival is the Money Raffle.
Tickets will be mailed shortly and we ask for your support in
selling them to family and friends. Each book of (3) tickets is
$10 or $5 for (1). We are offering an Early Bird Special. Make
your returns before May 1st and you will be entered into a
drawing for a 2-day stay in Hyannis.
The Special Gifts Booth - for the St. Joseph Parish Festival is
requesting donations. We will gratefully accept cash prizes or
gifts. You may bring your gift to the rectory or place cash gifts
in an envelope labeled “Special Gifts Donation” and drop it in
the church collection basket. You may also call direct regarding your donation. Please include your name and phone number on your gift.

YOUTH GROUP
Come and be a part of something wonderful! The Youth
Group’s interpretation of the Passion of Our Lord is an annual
event held on Good Friday, where young people present an
account of the life and passion of Jesus.
All interested young people in grades 5-12 are encouraged to
take part. No acting experience is necessary and the presentation is narrated, so actors need not speak aloud. Practices are in
the afternoons of March 30th, April 6th and April 13th at Sacred Heart Church. The Passion Play will be presented on Good
Friday, April 18th at noon. Email for more information. Please

business hours. Pick up date is April 12 &13 in the school.
Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Basilica Council
#122980-are once again holding a 50/50 Raffle during the
month of March. The tickets are (1) one for $5 or (3) three for
$10. The average payout for the past raffles has been over
$1,000. The tickets may be purchased at all entrances of the
Basilica this weekend.
St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club - is sponsoring a Vendor
Event and Indoor Yard Sale and Bake Sale on Sat., Mar. 29th
from 8:00am—4:00pm in the school cafeteria. We are looking
for vendors/sellers. Space will be $15. For more information

Lunch will be served at this event. Pat Parslow and Dottie
Kasierski are in charge of the bake sale and ask members to
bring in their “treats” in the morning.
Lottery Raffle - SJPWC is also sponsoring a Lottery Raffle

CHURCH IN CENTRAL & EASTERN
EUROPE COLLECTION
We will hold the collection for the Church in Central &
Eastern Europe, where great needs remain, on the weekend of
March 29-30. This collection provides support for basic
pastoral programs and makes scholarships available for students
studying to serve their local church. These students become
vital participants in the renewal of the Church in the region.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Lenten Evening Prayer and Benediction - For a special
Lenten Program, St. Louis Parish invites all to join for a
Solemn Evening Prayer and Benediction. This will be
celebrated every Sunday evening during Lent from March 16th
to April 13th at 6:30pm. All are welcome. Please come to pray
in a special way during this holy season.
Liturgical Ministry Training Sessions-for Ministry of Holy

14th Annual Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference – All
men are invited to this important annual Conference, scheduled

talks from outstanding Catholic leaders: New England Patriot’s
vet Kevin Reilly, Catholic biblical writer Steve Ray, popular
theologian Christopher West, Sirius radio host Gus Lloyd, and

40 Days for Life-ongoing campaign will run through April

„Chrystus Jezus, przezwyciężył śmierć, a na życie i nieśmiertelność
rzucił światło przez Ewangelię.” (2Tym 1, 10b)
„Pan Bóg rzekł do Abrama: «Wyjdź
z twojej ziemi rodzinnej i z domu twego ojca
do kraju, który ci ukażę».” Najpierw jest
wezwanie do opuszczenia ziemi rodzinnej,
a więc swojego świata i swojego poczucia bezpieczeństwa.
Stało się to udziałem Abrahama i jest udziałem uczniów Jezusa
aż po dziś dzień. Potem następuje stopniowe zbliżanie się do
Boga i Jego tajemnic. W końcu przychodzi chwila światła,
odsłania się Tajemnica, a rozum zaproszony jest do pokory.
Wiara bywa traceniem siebie i swojego świata.

UROCZYSTOŚĆ ŚW. JÓZEFA/ NOWENNA
W najbliższą środę przypada coroczna uroczystość naszego
patrona św. Józefa. Ten szczególny dzień powiązany jest z
przywilejem otrzymania odpustu zupełnego i cząstkowego
poprzez pobożne nawiedzenie Bazyliki i wypełnienie zwykłych
warunków odpustu. Nowenna wraz uroczystą Mszą sw. tego
dnia będzie odprawiona jak zwykle o godz. 19:00.
W Ewangeliach Józef pojawia się jako silny i odważny,
a jednocześnie w Jego sercu widzimy wielką czułość, która nie
jest oznaką słabości, ale raczej siły ducha oraz umiejętności
współczucia, empatii oraz otwartej miłości względem innych.
W tym tygodniu do procesji z figurą św. Józefa zapraszamy
członków Rady Parafialnej. Intencje modlitewne prosimy
zapisywać na specjalnych kartkach znajdujących się w kaplicy
Matki Boże i wkładać do specjalnej skrzynki znajdującej się tuż
obok figury św. Józefa. Dziękujemy za składany przy tej okazji
ofiary.

PIELGRZYMKA DO BAZYLIKI
W niedzielę, 23 marca będziemy gościli w progach naszej
Bazyliki pielgrzymów z archidiecezji Hardford. Pielgrzymi
będą modlili się z nami podczas uroczystej Eucharystii o godz.
11:00 oraz w czasie nabożeństwa Gorzkich Żali. Uprzejmie
prosimy parafian, o przygotowanie deseru dla naszych gości.
REKOLEKCJE POWOŁANIOWE
Coroczne rekolekcje powołaniowe inspirowane przez biskupa
McManus odbędą się w dniach 11 i 12 kwietnia w Centrum
Rekolekcyjnym Immaculate Conception Retreat Center w

piątek wieczorem i zakończy się kolacją o 18:00 w sobotę
wieczorem. Czas rekolekcji będzie wypełniony różnorodnymi
prezentacjami na temat rozeznania powołania oraz możliwości
jego realizacji, a także na temat samego życia i posługi
kapłańskiej. Będzie również czas na osobistą modlitwę,

Specjalna zbiórka na potrzeby i wsparcie Kościoła w Europie
środkowej i wschodniej odbędzie się w weekend 29 – 30 marca.
SZKOLENIE DLA LEKTORÓW I SZAFARZY
EUCHARYSTII
Szkolenie dla lektorów i Szafarzy Eucharystii odbędzie się w
parafii St. Roch w Oxford w dniach 19 i 26 marca oraz
2 kwietnia. W celu zasięgnięcia szczegółowych informacji
prosimy o kontakt z biurem parafialnym.
FESTIWAL PARAFIALNY
Główną atrakcją naszego corocznego Festiwalu jest Loteria
Pieniężna. Kupony na Loterię będą w najbliższym czasie
wysyłane do parafian z jednoczesną prośbą o wsparcie oraz
przekazanie ich również krewnym, znajomym i przyjaciołom.
Ceny kuponów są następujące: 1 za $5 oraz 3 za $10. Ci, którzy
zakupią kupony przed 1 maja, będą brali dodatkowo udział w
losowaniu dwudniowego pobytu w Hayannis.
Spacial Gift Boot – Datki oraz fanty prosimy przynosić na
plebanię. Można też użyć specjalnej koperty z napisem „Special
Gift Donation” i włożyć ją do koszyka z kolektą. Na
ofiarowanych rzeczach lub ofiarach pieniężnych prosimy
umieścić imię i nazwisko oraz nr telefonu.

CCD – Zajęcia katechetyczne w poniedziałek, 17 marca o

Bierzmowanie – Najbliższe spotkanie kandydatów do
Bierzmowania odbędzie się w niedzielę, 23 marca o godz. 8:30

Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na wsparcie Kościoła w Ameryce Łacińskiej.
