We wish to thank everyone that help
us in the organization of our first “Day
with Saint Nicholas” celebration and
fundraising, and all of our parishioners
that accompany us, and brought their
children to take pictures with Saint
Nicholas.

Can you help? The Christmas Nativity scene and Christmas trees will

Third Sunday of Advent, Cycle C
Luke 3:10-18
John the Baptist teaches the path of repentance and announces
Christ.
Background on the Gospel Reading
This Sunday's Gospel continues last week's focus on John the
Baptist and his role in preparing the way for Christ. Recall that last
week's reading described John's appearance in the desert and
established his connection with the prophetic tradition of Israel. If
we were to read Luke's Gospel continuously, we would learn
about John the Baptist challenging the crowds who came to him
and calling upon them to show evidence of their repentance. John
tells his listeners that they cannot rely on their lineage as Israelites because children of Abraham can be raised up from stones.
Repentance, rather, must be observable in one's actions. Here,
Luke is continuing to set up two important themes of his Gospel
message: the Christian faith is expressed in one's actions, and
the call to salvation is extended to everyone, Jews and Gentiles.

How does Eucharist feed me in my job every day so that
I give myself to my work and co-workers with integrity?
In today's Gospel reading, the crowds ask John the Baptist for
specifics. What evidence of repentance is required? John replies
by naming concrete actions: crowds should share their food and
cloaks; tax collectors should be just; soldiers should act fairly. The
concern for justice is a hallmark of Luke's Gospel.
When the crowd begins to wonder if John the Baptist might be the
Messiah, John interprets his baptism and makes it clear that his
ministry is in preparation for the Messiah. John the Baptist knows
his place and role in God's plan of salvation. By encouraging the
crowd to act similarly in accordance with their stations in life,
John's teaching suggests that each person has a role to play in
God's salvation. It is the great mystery of our salvation that God
permits and even asks for human cooperation in his divine plans.
The third Sunday of Advent is also called Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is a Latin word that means “rejoice.” This name is taken from
the entrance antiphon for Sunday's Mass, which is also echoed in
today's second reading from the Paul's letter to the Philippians.
Some people mark this Sunday by lighting a pink candle instead
of a purple one on their Advent wreath. It is a reminder that the
Advent season is a season of joy because our salvation is already
at hand.
The Christmas Wafer (Oplatki) sale.
They will available until December 21, 2012. Since 1973, the
choir has provided the opportunity for families to share in this
lovely holiday tradition. Prices remain the same as last year.

La gente preguntaba a Juan el bautista: ¿Qué debemos hacer?
Y Juan les contestaba: El que tiene dos vestidos, dé uno al que no
tiene ninguno; y el que tiene comida, compártala con el que no
tiene.
Se acercaron también para ser bautizados algunos de los que cobraban impuestos para Roma, y preguntaron a Juan: Maestro,
¿qué debemos hacer nosotros?
No cobréis más de lo que está ordenado —les dijo Juan.
También algunos soldados le preguntaron: Y nosotros, ¿qué debemos hacer?
Les contestó: No quitéis nada a nadie con amenazas o falsas acusaciones. Y conformaos con vuestra paga.
La gente se encontraba en gran expectación, y se preguntaba si tal
vez Juan sería el Mesías. Pero Juan dijo a todos: Yo, ciertamente,
os bautizo con agua; pero viene uno que os bautizará con el Espíritu Santo y con fuego. Él es más poderoso que yo, que ni siquiera
merezco desatar la correa de sus sandalias. Trae la pala en la mano para limpiar el trigo y separarlo de la paja. Guardará el trigo en
su granero, pero quemará la paja en un fuego que nunca se apagará.
De este modo, y con muchos otros consejos, anunciaba Juan las
buenas noticias a la gente.

także celnicy, żeby przyjąć chrzest, i pytali go: Nauczycielu, co mamy czynić? On im odpowiadał: Nie pobierajcie
nic więcej ponad to, ile wam wyznaczono. Pytali go też i
żołnierze: A my, co mamy czynić? On im odpowiadał: Nad
nikim się nie znęcajcie i nikogo nie uciskajcie, lecz poprzestawajcie na swoim żołdzie. Gdy więc lud oczekiwał z napięciem i wszyscy snuli domysły w sercach co do Jana, czy
nie jest Mesjaszem, on tak przemówił do wszystkich: Ja
was chrzczę wodą; lecz idzie mocniejszy ode mnie, któremu nie jestem godzien rozwiązać rzemyka u sandałów. On
chrzcić was będzie Duchem Świętym i ogniem. Ma On
wiejadło w ręku dla oczyszczenia swego omłotu: pszenicę
zbierze do spichlerza, a plewy spali w ogniu nieugaszonym.
Wiele też innych napomnień dawał ludowi i głosił dobrą
nowinę.

Rekolekcje Adwentowe
Dziś w III niedzielę adwentu, rozpoczynamy rekolekcje adwentowe w
naszej parafii. Rekolekcje będzie
prowadził O. dr. Józef Smyksy - Redemptorysta pracujący w Boliwii, dziekan wydziału teologicznego na Uniwersytecie w Cochabamba. Rekolekcje trwać będą do środy 19go grudnia. Msze św. oprócz niedzieli będą celebrowane każdego dnia o godzinie 12:00PM i o
7:00PM. Przed Mszą św. możliwość spowiedzi.

Sprzątanie Kościoła !
Ze względu na zbliżające się
święta bardzo prosimy o pomoc w
sprzątaniu kościoła w piątek 21-go
grudnia o godz. 8:30 z rana i
ofiarowanie jednej lub dwóch godzin
swojego czasu na przedświąteczne
czyszczenie kościoła.
Zapraszamy chętnych do ubierania
choinek w naszym kościele dnia 20

już było że w to przygotowywanie
