Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Your parish will soon present the annual collection for the Retirement
Fund for Religious, an opportunity to
honor and thank retired Catholic sisters, brothers and religious order
priests for their generous service to
our Church and our world.
Whether we realize it or not, we are all beneficiaries
of the tremendous contributions these women and men
have made. Through hard work, prayer and sacrifice,
they established schools and hospitals, initiated programs to promote social justice and ministered to the
neediest among us. I remain grateful for the ways they
have shaped my own faith and for the outstanding service they have given to our archdiocese.
I realize there are numerous worthy causes in need of
assistance and that many individuals and families continue to struggle financially. I ask you simply to offer
what you can for the care of women and men who
have made such enormous contributions to our
Church.

Third Sunday of Advent, Cycle B
John 1:6-8,19-28
John gives testimony that he is preaching and baptizing
in order to prepare for the coming of another.
Background on the Gospel Reading
This Sunday's Gospel invites us to continue our reflection on the person and mission of John the Baptist. Today we depart from the Gospel of Mark and read a selection from the Gospel of John.
The Gospel for today combines a brief passage from the
prologue to John's Gospel with a report about John the
Baptist. As in Mark's Gospel, the Gospel of John contains no birth narrative. Instead, John's Gospel begins
with a theological reflection that has come to be called
the “prologue.” This prologue places the story of Jesus
in its cosmological framework. It speaks of Jesus' existence with God since the beginning of time. In John's
Gospel, Jesus is presented as the fulfillment of the Old
Testament and the culmination of the Word, the light
that is coming into the world's darkness.
Following this prologue, John reports on the ministry of
John the Baptist. We learn about the attention that John
the Baptist received from the Jewish authorities. Messengers from the Jewish priests, the Levites and the
Pharisees question John about his identity and the meaning of the baptisms that he is performing. John's Gospel
uses these questions to establish the relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist. John the Baptist is not
the Messiah, nor is he Elijah or the Prophet. In John's
denials, we hear echoes of the kind of messianic expectations that were common in first-century Palestine.
The only affirmative response that John the Baptist
gives is when he quotes the prophet Isaiah. Upon answering the next question, John announces that the savior they seek is already among them, but as yet unrecognized. John's response highlights for us an important
Advent theme: Jesus has already come into the world as
our savior. During Advent, we pray that we will be able
to recognize Jesus' presence in our midst. Advent also
reminds us that Jesus will come again to fulfill the
promise of salvation. We pray that we will continue to
be watchful as we anticipate that great day.
The third Sunday of Advent is also called Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete, a Latin word which means “rejoice,” is
taken from the entrance antiphon for Sunday's Mass.
This theme is echoed in today's second reading from the
first Letter to the Thessalonians. It is a reminder that
Advent is a season of joy because our salvation is already at hand.

III DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO
Surgió un hombre enviado por Dios, que se llamaba Juan: éste venia
como testigo, para dar testimonio de la luz, para que por él todos
vinieran a la fe. No era él la luz, sino testigo de la luz. Y éste fue el
testimonio de Juan, cuando los judíos enviaron desde Jerusalén
sacerdotes y levitas a Juan, a que le preguntaran: ¿Tú quién eres? El
confesó sin reservas: -- Yo no soy el Mesías. Le preguntaron:-Entonces, ¿qué? ¿Eres tú Elías? El dijo:-- No lo soy.--¿Eres tú el
Profeta? Respondió:-- No. Y le dijeron:-- ¿Quién eres? Para que
podamos dar una respuesta a los que nos han enviado, ¿qué dices de
ti mismo? Contestó: Yo soy la voz que grita en el desierto: "Allanad el
camino del Señor" (como dijo el Profeta Isaías). Entre los enviados
había fariseos y le preguntaron:-- Entonces, ¿por qué bautizas, si tú
no eres el Mesías, ni Elías, ni el Profeta? Juan les respondió: -- Yo
bautizo con agua; en medio de vosotros hay uno que no conocéis, el
que viene detrás de mí, que existía antes que yo y al que no soy digno
de desatar la correa de la sandalia. Esto pasaba en Betania, en la otra
orilla del Jordán, donde estaba Juan bautizando.

Pojawił się człowiek posłany przez Boga - Jan mu było na imię.
Przyszedł on na świadectwo, aby zaświadczyć o światłości, by
wszyscy uwierzyli przez niego. Nie był on światłością, lecz /
posłanym/, aby zaświadczyć o światłości. Takie jest świadectwo
Jana. Gdy Żydzi wysłali do niego z Jerozolimy kapłanów i
lewitów z zapytaniem: Kto ty jesteś?, on wyznał, a nie zaprzeczył,
oświadczając: Ja nie jestem Mesjaszem. Zapytali go: Cóż zatem?
Czy jesteś Eliaszem? Odrzekł: Nie jestem. Czy ty jesteś
prorokiem? Odparł: Nie! Powiedzieli mu więc: Kim jesteś,
abyśmy mogli dać odpowiedź tym, którzy nas wysłali? Co mówisz
sam o sobie? Odpowiedział: Jam głos wołającego na pustyni:
Prostujcie drogę Pańską, jak powiedział prorok Izajasz. A
wysłannicy byli spośród faryzeuszów. I zadawali mu pytania,
mówiąc do niego: Czemu zatem chrzcisz, skoro nie jesteś ani
Mesjaszem, ani Eliaszem, ani prorokiem? Jan im tak
odpowiedział: Ja chrzczę wodą. Pośród was stoi Ten, którego wy
nie znacie, który po mnie idzie, a któremu ja nie jestem godzien
odwiązać rzemyka u Jego sandała. Działo się to w Betanii, po
drugiej stronie Jordanu, gdzie Jan udzielał chrztu.

Rekolekcje Adwentowe
Informujemy, że 18-go grudnia, IV niedziela adwentu, rozpoczną się rekolekcje adwentowe w naszej parafii. Rekolekcje będzie prowadził O. Stanisław Słaby - Redemptorysta pracujący w Manville w New
Jersey. Rekolekcje trwać będą do środy 21-go grudnia.
Msze św. oprócz niedzieli będą celebrowane każdego
dnia o godzinie 12:00PM i o 7:00PM. Przed Mszą św.
możliwość spowiedzi. Serdecznie zapraszamy do udziału
w rekolekcjach.
Parafia Marki Bożej Częstochowskiej wyraża swoją wdzięczność tym
wszystkim, którzy posługują w niej:
jako lektorzy, szafarze eucharystii,
chórzyści, marszałkowie, przewodniczący organizacji parafialnych,
tym którzy sprzątają lub spełniają
jakiekolwiek inne posługi dla dobra

Specjalna kolacja dla wszystkich
osób zaangażowanych będzie miała miejsce 14-go stycznia
2012 roku w Social Center. Przyjęcie jest tylko i wyłącznie
dla osób dorosłych, którzy ukończyli 18 lat. Prosimy o wypełnienie poniższej formy i wyrzucenie do koszyka wraz z
niedzielną kolektą do 8-go stycznia 2012.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,
Wkrótce w waszej parafii będzie miała miejsce doroczna Kolekta na Rzecz Funduszu Emerytalnego
Osób Konsekrowanych. Będzie to okazja do uhonorowania i wyrażenia naszej wdzięczności wobec
emerytowanych katolickich sióstr, braci i księży zakonnych za wierną posługę, jaką nieśli Kościołowi i
światu.
Bez względu na to, czy jesteśmy tego świadomi czy
nie, wszyscy odnosimy wielkie korzyści z ogromnej pracy wykonywanej
codziennie przez osoby konsekrowane. Dzięki ich wysiłkom oraz nieustannej modlitwie i ofiarności wzniesione zostały szpitale, powstały
programy promujące sprawiedliwość społeczną, a najbardziej potrzebujący spośród nas mieli zapewnioną stałą posługę. Przepełnia mnie
wdzięczność za to, jak dzięki nim uformowana została moja wiara oraz
za wspaniałą służbę ofiarowaną przez nich dla naszej archidiecezji.
Jestem świadom tego, że wiele spraw potrzebuje wsparcia finansowego
i jest tego wsparcia godnych. Wiem także, że wiele osób indywidualnych i rodzin wciąż boryka się z niezwykle ciężką sytuacją materialną.
Dlatego proszę, żebyście w tym trudnym okresie ofiarowali po prostu
tyle, na ile was stać dla zapewnienia opieki nad tymi niewiastami i mężczyznami, którzy tak wiele ofiarowali i tak wiele zdziałali dla naszego
Kościoła.
Dziękuję za wsparcie, jakiego udzielicie na rzecz tej kolekty. Podczas
nadchodzącego Adwentu będę pamiętał w modlitwie o Was i Waszych
bliskich w szczególny sposób i proszę żebyście i Wy modlili się za mnie.
