THE HUMANITY OF JESUS CHRIST
All three readings today support—each in its own way, of
course—a reflection on the humanity of Jesus
Christ and how that humanity played a key
role in the drama of our salvation. Although
not chosen specifically to coordinate with the
other two readings, today’s second reading
does in fact carry forward the theme of Christ’s humanity in a
remarkable way. The author of the Letter to the Hebrews highlights the solidarity that exists between Jesus and us, precisely
because in his human nature Jesus has known the same sufferings and testing that are our own experience. Because he can
“sympathize with our weaknesses,” we can “approach the
throne of grace to receive mercy.” For the author of Hebrews,
the humanity of Jesus was an essential requirement for his redemptive death, as well as an invitation to us to find Jesus
someone with whom we can identify in our daily struggles.
This weekend’s second collection is for World Mission Sunday
(Propagation of the Faith).
Next week’s second collection is for the remaining envelopes in

ST. ANNE’S SOCIETY - Annual Bake Sale & Raffle will be
held on Sat., Oct. 20th from 3:00-5:30pm and Sun. Oct. 21st
from 7:30-11:00am. in the school conference room. Members
are asked to bring pastry anytime after 2:00pm on Saturday.
POTATO PANCAKE SALE-in conjunction with the St.
Anne Society Bake sale, our Parish we will sponsor and serve
freshly made hot potato pancakes on Sunday, Oct. 21 from
9:00—11:00am. You can enjoy them immediately or take them
home.
WORLD MISSION DAY (PROPOGATION OF FAITH)
This Sunday October 21st, we celebrate World Mission Sunday as Pope Benedict reminds us that our mission to proclaim
the salvation of Christ to the ends of the earth “presents itself
with renewed urgency” as we open this Year of Faith and recall
the vision of the Second Vatican Council.
Our generosity supports education of seminarians, religious
novices and lay catechists; for the work of religious communities in education, health care and social services; for communication and transportation needs; for disaster and emergency
relief; and for the Church’s ministry to children.
Your generous gift will nurture the lives and faith of our
brothers and sisters in 1,100 mission dioceses and will also be a
source of blessing for our own Diocese as we place evangelization at the heart of our life as a Church.

OCTOBER ROSARY DEVOTIONS
The Rosary is a biblical and evangelical prayer and is a contemplation of the mystery of the history of our salvation. I encourage all the faithful to pray the rosary during this month of
October in your home and in church.

JUBILEE ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I am extremely grateful to the numerous people who stepped
forward and assumed various responsibilities in preparation of
our 125th Jubilee Celebration. It would be an arduous task to
name everyone individually, but we owe a debt of gratitude to
those who assisted in any way to make this such a special day
for our parish community.
We would like to recognize John and Jane Gogolinski who
spent countless hours in the planning and the transporting of the
floral arrangements in our Basilica and also at the banquet.
They also graciously donated the cost of the flowers ($800)
plus their transportation costs to the Basilica.
We appreciate the work of the ushers under the direction of
Richard Bronczyk who supervised the outdoor parking situation
and also escorted guests to their pews inside the church. Also,
Police and Ambulance services were on stand by on the
grounds to respond to any need.

ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL
The school’s participation in the 125th Jubilee Celebration
was recognized by a free of charge picnic lunch for students,
faculty and staff on Wed., Oct. 10th.
Do you have an hour or two to spare? - If you do, your services would be appreciated in the St. Joseph School Cafeteria.
You will enjoy spending time with the students and at the same
time be of assistance to the staff. Please call the school if you

SAVE THE DATE: THE ANNUAL CEMETERY PROCESSION-will take place on Sunday, October 28th at 2:00pm.
This prayerful service coincides with All Souls Day when we
remember our departed family members and friends. People
from different localities with their families visit the cemetery at
this time in a spirit of prayerful remembrance. May I ask all the
parish organizations, Boy Scouts, Altar Servers, Children of
Mary and parishioners to take part in this annual liturgical service. The votive lights customary for this occasion will be
available before the procession.
We would appreciate if you would contact acquaintances
outside of our area to join us for this traditional October event.
Offering for a Mass for the deceased, donating to a particular
charity and prayers help the souls in purgatory to shorten their
temporal punishment and strengthens the bond of love with our
departed.

souls you specify in the All Souls offering envelopes will be
honored at all Masses on All Souls Day. We also offer additional Masses during the year as noted in the bulletin. We ask

YEAR OF FAITH
Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester,
opened the Year of Faith on Friday, October 11, 2012. At the
opening at the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI stated, “it will be a
moment of grace and commitment to a more complete conversion to God to strengthen our faith and proclaim Him with joy
to the people of our time. The Year of Faith will give new
impetus to the mission of the whole Church to lead many out of
the desert, where they often find themselves, to a place of life
and friendship with Christ.
In our Basilica we will open the Year of Faith on Sunday,
Christ the King. We have to prepare ourselves with pastoral
programs and evangelization during the Advent, Christmas and
Lenten Seasons. I challenge our parishioners and organizations
for suggestions to promote evangelization. This is not the task
of only the clergy, but the entire parish must be involved.
The Parish Council is currently planning events to commemorate this year long event at our parish.

OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Religious Education Classes will be held on Monday, Oct.
22nd from 5:30-6:30pm in the school.
We need volunteers to promote a successful program. If
you are interested in joining our team, please contact the rectory. Training will be provided.
Confirmation Class-will meet on the second and fourth
Sundays of the month. The next meeting will be held on Sun.,
Oct. 28th in the school at 8:30am and followed by participation
in the Liturgy at 9:30am.
RCIA-those who would like to join the Catholic Church
through the RCIA Program, please call the rectory for details.
This program is for those who are not baptized or those who
would like to return to the Church. The program will begin on

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
During the weekend of November 10 & 11, the Knights of
Columbus Council #12980 will hold our Annual Thanksgiving
Turkey Drive. Each year we raise money to purchase turkeys
from Price Chopper and help to feed people in our local community who are having a difficult year. Last year we were able
to assist 150 families. Any donation will help those in need. If

The St. Stanislaw Society of Blessed John Paul II
Parish, Southbridge, MA-will celebrate their 100th
Anniversary on Sun., Oct. 28th with Mass at 2:00pm at St.
Hedwig’s Church followed by a reception at 4:00pm at
LaSalle Reception Center at Notre Dame of Blessed John
Paul II Parish. Tickets at $25 per person are available by

J. McManus will concelebrate the Mass and Rev. Charles
Borowski will be the key note speaker at the banquet.
“Reflections of the Letters of Paul”- is designed for
adult discussion of this portion of Holy Scripture.

CZŁOWIECZEŃSTWO JEZUSA
Wszystkie trzy dzisiejsze czytania
odnoszą się, każde w na swój sposób,
do człowieczeństwa Jezusa, oraz tego,
jaka rolę ludzka natura Jezusa
odegrała w naszym zbawieniu. Drugie
czytanie ukazuje Jezusa w świetle solidarności jaka
istnieje pomiędzy Nim a nami z powodu tych samych
cierpień i doświadczeń, jakie są naszym udziałem.
Ponieważ "współczuje On naszym słabościom" my
możemy "przybliżyć się do trony łaski i otrzymać
miłosierdzie". Dla autora Listu do Hebrajczyków"
człowieczeństwo Jezusa było istotnym elementem w Jego
zbawczej śmierci, jak również zaproszeniem dla nas w
spostrzeganiu Jezusa jako kogoś, z kim możemy
identyfikować się w naszych codziennych trudnościach.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na
działalności misyjną.
Druga kolekta w następną niedzielę będzie przeznaczona
na składanie wszystkich zaległych kopert.
NABOŻEŃSTWO RÓŻAŃCOWE
Miesiąc październik jest szczególnie poświęcony
Różańcowi, w którym rozważamy życie, śmierć i
zmartwychwstanie Jezusa. Zachęcamy wszystkich parafian
do odmawiania różańca codziennie w październiku w
domach bądź wspólnie z innymi w kościele.
Nabożeństwo Różańcowe będzie odprawiane w
następujących dniach i godzinach:

ŚWIATOWY DZIEŃ MISYJNY
Dzisiejszej niedzieli obchodzimy, Światowy Dzień
Misyjny, w którym Papież Benedykt XVI przypomina
nam, że nasza misją jest głoszenie zbawienia aż po krańce
ziemi, zwłaszcza Roku wiary, który właśnie
rozpoczynamy, powracając jednocześnie do wizji, jaką
przedstawiał Sobór Watykański II.
Wasze ofiary będą wsparciem dla edukacji w
seminariach, nowicjatach i kursach dla katechetów.
Wspomogą prace wspólnot religijnych w ich działalności
edukacyjnej, zdrowotnej i społecznej. Posłużą w
zapewnieniu środków transportu i komunikacji oraz będą
pomocą dla tych, którzy staną się ofiarami katastrof
naturalnych. Wspomogą tych, którzy troszczą się o dobro
i potrzeby dzieci.
Wasza wspaniałomyślność będzie wparciem dla
naszych sióstr i braci w 1100 diecezjach misyjnych na
całym świecie. Zostaną również wykorzystane po części
w naszej diecezji w różnorodnych projektach
ewangelizacyjnych służących naszemu lokalnemu
Kościołowi.
ROK WIARY
Jego Ekscelencja ks. Bp Robert McManus, 11
października uroczystą Mszą św. w Katedrze, zainicjował
Rok Wiary, który zakończy się w Uroczystość Chrystusa
Króla Wszechświata w przyszłym roku. Rok ten jest dla
nas unikalną okazją, aby jeszcze bardzie zaangażować się
w dzieło Nowej Ewangelizacji. Rada Parafialna planuje
różnorodne przedsięwzięcia, które pozwolą nam lepiej
przeżyć to trwające cały rok wydarzenie.
PROCESJA NA CMENTARZU
Z okazji Uroczystości Wszystkich Świętych oraz
obchodów Dnia Zadusznego w niedzielę 28 października
odbędzie się doroczna procesja na naszym cmentarzu. W
duchu modlitewnej pamięci dla zmarłych gromadzą się na
cmentarzu członkowie rodzin i przyjaciele. Jako rodzina
parafialna będziemy modlili się na za naszych bliskich
zmarłych. Bardzo porosimy o udział wszystkich
organizacji parafialnych. Przed procesją będzie można
zakupić tradycyjne znicze.
Msza św. w intencji zmarłych, osobista modlitwa, czyny
miłosierdzia oraz ofiary składane na cele charytatywne
dla wsparcia potrzebujących są ogromna pomocą dla dusz
cierpiących w czyśćcu i jednocześnie zacieśniają nasze
więzy miłości ze zmarłymi. Dwujęzyczna Msza sw. w
intencji naszych blizkich zmarłych zotanie odprawiona w
Dzień Zaduszny, 2 listopada o godz. 19:00. Kazanie po
angielsku wygłosi ks. Prałat Maroney.
Wypominki. W ciągu Dnia Zadusznego jak również w
ciągu całego roku będziemy odprawiali Msze św. w
intencji naszych bliskich zmarłych. Imiona osób zmarłych
prosimy pisać DRUKOWANYLI LITERAMI i kartki z
imionami włożyć do koperty przeznaczonej na Dzień
Zaduszny.
PODZIĘKOWANIE JUBILEUSZOWE
Jesteśmy bezgranicznie zobowiązani wielu ludziom,
którzy podjęli odpowiedzialność w rożnych momentach
przygotowania Celebracji Jubileuszowej. Nie sposób
podziękować wszystkim imiennie, ale chcemy wymienić
kilka osób jako przedstawicieli tych wszystkich, którym
winniśmy wdzięczność.
Państwo Gogolińscy spędzili niezliczone godziny na
zaplanowaniu i przetransportowaniu kwiatów do
udekorowania Bazyliki i sali bankietowej. Wzięli na siebie
również ciężar sfinansowania tego przedsięwzięcia.
Wolontariusze pod kierownictwem Richard'a Bronczyk
wykonali niesamowita pracę organizując ruch na parkingu
a inna grupa wolontariuszy pomagała wiernym w
zajmowaniu odpowiednich miejsc w Bazylice.
Wszystkim im składamy serdeczne Bóg Zapłać!
SOBOTNIA SZKOŁA.
Przypominamy, że ciągle przyjmujemy do szkoły dzieci,
w tym roku w wieku już od 4 lat. Jak Państwo pamiętają, w
ubiegłym roku po raz pierwszy w 12-letniej historii naszą
szkołę opuścili Absolwenci klasy VIII. W związku z tym
stan uczniowski pomniejszył się o 14 osób, a co za tym
idzie nasze przychody znacznie zmalały. Ponieważ z grupy
przedszkolnej musieliśmy wydzielić zerówkę, liczba
nauczycieli nie zmalała, więc koszty operowania naszej
szkoły pozostają takie same lub nawet wzrosną ze względu
na zwiększone inne wydatki. Jak co roku, żeby uzupełnić
nasze finanse, będziemy robić zabawy i sprzedaż kartek
świątecznych.
Pierwsza zabawa, andrzejkowa, odbędzie się 1 grudnia,
w sobotę przed Adwentem. Piękne kartki świąteczne
zaczniemy sprzedawać już w niedzielę 28 października.
Drugą zabawę jak zwykle zrobimy na koniec karnawału,
czyli 9 lutego. Szczegóły będziemy podawać w miarę
zbliżania się poszczególnych wydarzeń, ale już teraz
prosimy o zaznaczenie tych dat w kalendarzu, gdyż w tym
roku w szczególny sposób będziemy liczyć na Państwa
wsparcie, za co z góry dziękujemy. Jeżeli mają Państwo

Lekcje Religii odbywają się w każdy poniedziałek w
godz. od 17:30 do 18:30.
Potrzebujemy wolontariuszy, którzy zechcieliby
dołączyć się do grona katechetycznego. Zainteresowanych
prosimy o kontakt z kancelarią parafialną.
Bierzmowanie.
Spotkania
przygotowawcze
dla
kandydatów do bierzmowania będą odbywały się w każdą
drugą i czwartą niedzielę miesiąca. Najbliższe spotkanie 28
października w sali konferencyjnej w szkole o godz. 8:30.
Po spotkaniu wspólna Eucharystia o godz. 9:30. Obecność
kandydatów jest obowiązkowa.
