Niechże te słow a, w yp o w ie d zia n e przez Prezydenta R zeczypospolitej,
prof. Ignacego M o ścickie g o podczas obch odzon ego w roku 1 9 3 3 po raz pierw szy
Ś w ięta Lasu, będą przesłaniem dla nas i naszych następców . Dzisiaj, w do b ie licznych
zagrożeń środow iska, nabierają one jeszcze w iększej w a g i niż przed p ó ł w iekiem .

Thus d id th e then President o f the R epublic, Ignacy M o ścicki, com m em orate
th e firs t „D a y o f th e Forest" in 1933. Let his w o rd s be a message fo r us and
fo r our descendents. For today, in th is era o f m a n ifo ld threats to the environm ent,
th e ir sig n ifica n ce is greater than half a ce n tu ry ago.

Dieser Atavismus ist so stark, daß unsere Liebe und Verbundenheit m it dem Wald
sich nicht ausrotten lassen".
Mögen diese Worte, welche der Präsident der Republik Prof. Ignacy MoScicki
bei dem 1933 zum ersten Mal begangenen Fest des Waldes ausgesprochen hat,
für uns und unsere Nachfolger ein Vermächtnis sein. In der heutigen Epoche
der zahlreichen Umweltgefährdungen gewinnen sie noch wichtigere Bedeutung
als vor einem halben Jahrhundert.
