We would greatly appreciate your involvement in an online survey. Please note that we are interested in hearing from all Catholics, regardless of how often you participate in the life of the Church. All surveys will be anonymous unless participants themselves choose to provide contact information. To participate in the survey, please go to the Archdiocese of Chicago’s website at www.archchicago.org and follow the link to the Catholic Faith and Practice Survey. If you have Catholic friends or family members who you think may not see this announcement, we would greatly appreciate your help in asking them to fill out the survey as well. Part of our effort is to understand teens’ views, and we encourage their participation. The deadline for completing a survey is Friday, April 16. Easter thoughts from our Pastor: A happy and blessed Easter to you!... To illustrate the meaning of Easter, I begin with a story: a girl pushes her brother down the stairs. To her horror, the fall causes him to break his neck, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. She did not intend to paralyze him, but that was the result of her malicious action. All day and all night she is thinking about what she has done. The next day she must face her father. As she approaches her dad's room, she is afraid. What she fears is not so much that her dad will punish her. In some ways she would welcome any punishment. No, what she fears is that her dad will say that she is no longer his child, that he will banish her from the family. But when she enters the room, she sees a glorious sight. Her brother is sitting on his father's lap - completely restored. He says to her, "sister." And she hears her father say, "my daughter."… Now, she will have to face some punishment for what she did. But she bears it gladly because of the great joy she has. In a similar way the Resurrection of Jesus restores us. We hear Jesus say, "It is I. I live." Then, in spite of our sin, the Father says, "you are my son."… The Resurrection gives a joy that no one can take from us. After Peter proclaimed the Resurrection of Jesus, he said, "Everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins though his name." After listening to Peter's Easter homily, the people asked him: "What must we do?" He responded plainly, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus."… By baptism we are joined to Christ’s death and resurrection. The remembrance of our baptism should bring us great joy. Fr. Chodzi jednak o inną śmierć i o inne zmartwychwstanie. Chrystus przez dzisiejsze święto powołuje nas do ustawicznego procesu zmartwychwstawania, powstawania na nowo, a to wymaga uprzedniej śmierci. Muszę umrzeć sobie, umierać swoim drobnym i większym grzechom, słabościom, zachciankom, egoizmowi… Ks. Padre Antonio Reflections from Fr. Emil THE SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord's own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist. "At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharist sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection; a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us". Vatican Council. Fr. As my first year as Pastor, I was able to see the hard work and dedication that was needed for it to be a success. I would like to thank Stan Lihosit, Barb Bedus, Janice Nowakowski and Pat Podlasek for all their work in heading up this year’s affair. It is amazing how many people volunteer their time to help make this event the success it always is. The Bingo staff and the Wierzbicki family set up the tables on Friday night after Bingo. On Saturday morning, a number of Ushers and their wives cleaned the tables and bar area and readied the hall with tablecloths and flowers with the assistance of the school children. The school children also hand-made all the beautiful placemats that adorned the tables. Thank you, children, for your hard work and to the teachers who guided them in their efforts. Everyone was unique and showed creativeness! On Sunday, we had help from many members of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and their families working in various jobs. The wonderful Polish ladies did their usual great job of getting the coffee and dessert trays ready with the cakes baked by our parishioners and those that were donated by various bakeries which were picked up by Ed Bartoszek. The Boy Scouts helped keep the hall clean throughout the dinner and then stayed to put the halls back in shape for school on Monday. The Senior Group supplied a group of women who passed out the food prepared by the European Chalet and the mostaccioli was donated by the Rinella family. Conrad Kukowski and his friend provided the music for the enjoyment of all. Everyone did a great job and if I forgot anyone, please forgive me. Almost 400 people bought tickets to this event which will be held again next year because of the feeling of togetherness it generates among our parishioners. There is nothing I can add except to say “Thank you from the bottom of my heart”.
