Volkswagen Golf Cup pre-season testing!
Already on the next Monday, 24 drivers will have the opportunity to try the
Volkswagen Golf GTI equipped with a 2-liter TSI engine, which power
thanks to the Push-to-Pass system is raised to 310 hp. Drivers from 10
countries will begin this year struggle with two test sessions traditionally
held on the Slovakia Ring circuit near Bratislava.
The inauguration of the Volkswagen Golf Cup is scheduled for March 23rd and 24th.
There are 14 new drivers on the starting list, and the meeting on the Slovakia Ring will
give them a chance to become acquainted with the Golf GTI. Obviously, there will be a
range of well-known drivers from previous editions. It is worth mentioning, that in a 24people pack there are as many as 14 drivers from other countries, what clearly confirms
the international character of the Cup. This year the Cup will be the only one of its kind
motorsport activity for Volkswagen in Europe.
The racing Golf GTI prepared by Volkswagen Racing Polska with base in Tarnów is
equipped with a 2-liter TSI engine and an excellent DSG gearbox. The innovative Pushto-Pass system increasing power to 310 horsepower will also be a new feature for many
drivers
The Slovakia Ring circuit is located near Bratislava and is very well-known among
drivers. Until now, all three editions of the Volkswagen Golf Cup has visited the Slovak
venue, which has always provided plenty of excitement both for the drivers and fans.
The track built in 2009 has recently undergone some little modifications involving the
elimination of the hill, which was problematic also for the most experienced drivers. In
addition to the Volkswagen Golf Cup, the Slovak race track also hosts series such as
the FIA WTCC, FIA GT and the ADAC GT Masters.
