Szanowny Panie Prezydencie,
W marcu 2013 roku funkcjonariusze rządowi zabrali z domu Ranię Alabassi i jej sześcioro dzieci.
Od tego czasu słuch po nich zaginął.
Władze syryjskie nie poinformowały o przyczynach aresztowania rodziny, nie podały także
informacji o ich stanie czy miejscu pobytu. Rząd Syrii zignorował także rezolucję ONZ z 2014 roku
wzywającą do zaprzestania „wymuszonych zaginięć”.
Panie Prezydencie, wzywam Pana do:
• bezwarunkowego uwolnienia sześciorga dzieci Ranii
• uwolnienia Ranii lub postawienia jej zarzutów i osądzenia w zgodzie z międzynarodowymi
standardami sprawiedliwego procesu
• ujawnienia losu i miejsca pobytu Ranii Alabbasi i jej dzieci, a także zapewnienia im kontaktu z
rodziną i prawnikiem
• zapewnienia, że Rania i jej dzieci są chronione przed torturami i innymi formami złego
traktowania oraz mają zapewnioną wymaganą opiekę medyczną
• pozwolenia niezależnym obserwatorom na nieograniczony dostęp do osób pozbawionych
wolności w Syrii.

Dear President Assad,
Rania Alabassi and her six young children were taken from their home by government agents in
March 2013 and have not been seen or heard of since.
No reason for their arrest was given at the time and Syrian authorities have given no information
about their well-being or whereabouts. Your government has also ignored a 2014 UN resolution
calling for an end to these ‘enforced disappearances’.
President, I urge you to:
• Release Rania’s six children unconditionally.
• Release Rania or charge her of an internationally recognizable offence and try her in line with
international fair trial standards.
• Reveal the fate and whereabouts of Rania Alabbasi and her children and grant them access to
their family and lawyer.
• Ensure that Rania and her children are protected from any torture and other ill-treatment and
receive any medical attention they may require.
• Give independent monitors unrestricted access to all people deprived of their liberty across Syria.
