Jan Jakub Bokun. Pochodzący z Wrocławia klarnecista i dyrygent poprowadził ostatnio tourne orkiestry Wratislavia po Meksyku oraz wystąpił z Praską Filharmonią FOK.
Jego ostatni album płytowy „Clarinettino”, nagrany w Bratysławie z czołowym słowackim kwartetem smyczkowym Slovak
Quartet, został entuzjastycznie przyjęty przez krytykę.
Po studiach w zakresie gry na klarnecie w Akademii Muzycznej im. Karola Lipińskiego we Wrocławiu oraz w Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris Jan Jakub Bokun
ukończył studia dyrygenckie na University of Southern California w Los Angeles. Ksztalcił się też jako stypendysta American
Academy for Conducting w Aspen oraz wziął udział w Verbier
Academy w Szwajcarii, pracując pod kierunkiem Jamesa Levina i Kurta Masura.
Swoje umiejętności doskonalił też na wielu kursach mistrzowskich pod kierunkiem tak
wybitnych artystów jak Sergiu Celibidache, Jorma Panula, Larry Livingston, David Zinman,
Michael Stern, Philippe Cuper, Guy Deplus, Walter Boeykens, Michael Collins oraz Béla
Kovács.
Laureat nagród na konkursach we Wrocławiu, Włoszakowicach, Białymstoku,
Enschede i Mt. Pleasant, wyróżniony nagrodą Fundacji Kultury Polskiej, stypendium Ministra
Kultury i Sztuki oraz stypendium Rządu Francuskiego. Jako solista i dyrygent występował z
większością orkiestr filharmonicznych w kraju. Trzykrotnie, w Ostendzie, Sztokholmie i w
Tokio, reprezentował Polskę na Światowym Kongresie Klarnecistów Clarinetfest.
Występował w większości krajów Europy, w USA, Chile, Argentynie, Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich, Meksyku, Chinach i Japonii.
Jako solista i dyrygent nagrał 10 albumów płytowych. Nagrywał dla Polskiego Radia i Telewizji, International Clarinet Association oraz wytwórni Koch Classics i Dux. W 2005 roku
założył własny label płytowy JBRecords.
Prowadził lekcje mistrzowskie w Królewskim Konserwatorium w Brukselii, w Sofii,
Belgradzie, Lubljanie, Meksyku, Pekinie, oraz Avili pod Madrytem.
Jest adiunktem Wrocławskiej Akademii Muzycznej, gdzie od 2001 roku prowadzi klasę klarnetu.

Polish clarinetist and conductor Jan Jakub Bokun has appeared through most European
countries, USA, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, Chile and Argentina. He studied the clarinet with Mieczysław Stachura at the Wrocław Academy of Music and continued
his studies with Guy Dangain at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. In
May 2001 he received the Master of Music in Conducting degree from the University of
Southern California in Los Angeles. He was awarded a fellowship to the American Academy
for Conducting at the Aspen Music Festival and received a scholarship, which enabled him to
study with Kurt Masur and James Levine at Verbier Academy in Switzerland.
As a conductor Jan Jakub Bokun has appeared with many polish chamber and symphonic ensembles, including the Wratislavia, Ricordanza, Elbląg, Radom and Słupsk Chamber
Orchestras, Szczecin’s Camerata Nova, Wrocław, Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Płock, Kalisz, Olsztyn, Lublin, Koszalin, Jelenia Góra, Baltic and Sudettic Philharmonic Orchestras in
Poland, the Martinu Filharmonie Zlin, Česke Budejovice Chamber Philharmonic and the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc in the Czech Republic. In February 2010 Bokun made his
debut with the Prague Philharmonia.
He has won prizes, as both soloist and chamber musician, at competitions in Wrocław,
Włoszakowice, Enschede and Mt. Pleasant. He was a prizewinner at the Third Witold
Lutoslawski Conducting Competition in Białystok, Poland, where he also received the Orchestra Award. He has perfected his skills at numerous master classes given by such outstanding
artists as Sergiu Celibidache, Michael Stern, Philippe Cuper, Guy Deplus, Walter Boeykens,
Michael Collins, Béla Kovàcs and Peter-Marc Dijcks.
Three times - in Ostend, Stockholm and Tokyo he was the Polish representative at the
World Clarinet Congress Clarinetfest. He has been invited to give master classes in Poland,
Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, Mexico, Serbia and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels.
Mr. Bokun has recorded for Polish Radio and TV. He has released 10 solo albums with
Koch Classics, JBRecords and DUX, all received with great critical acclaim.
His honors include a prize of the Foundation of Polish Culture, the Jan Adolf Górecki
Scholarship and grants from the Polish Ministry of Culture and the French Government.
Jan Jakub Bokun is on the faculty of the Wrocław Academy of Music where he teaches
clarinet and chamber music.
