If you are tired of walking after a
busy day at the congress, but still want
to discover the many sights of vibrant
Poznań, take a ride on the History Bus
or Tram. Simply hop on bus no. 100 or
tram no. 0 at any of its stops and learn
about the history of the sights you
pass along the way. It is up to you
where to get of during the ride. For
example, you could take a stroll
through Citadel Park, do some shopping at the Old Brewery or enjoy a cup
of cofee in one of the many cafés on
the Old Market Square before getting
back on. Attractions include Lake
Malta, Cathedral Island, Kaiser’s Castle,
Grand Theatre and Raczyński Library.
Tickets can only be purchased on
board from the staf and are not valid
for regular public transport.

A must-taste during a stay in
Poznań is the city’s culinary speciality:
the rogal świętomarciński or St Martin’s croissant. Eaten all year round but
traditionally on St Martin’s Day on
11 November, the horseshoe-shaped
pastry is even a protected EU regional
product and may only be produced in
the Wielkopolska region and only ac-

Obowiązkowym punktem programu pobytu w Poznaniu jest spróbowanie kulinarnej specjalności miasta,
rogala świętomarcińskiego. Ciasto w
kształcie podkowy, spożywane przez
cały rok, a zgodnie z tradycją szczególnie 11 listopada – w dniu Św. Marcina –
jest chronionym przez UE produktem regionalnym, który może być wytwarzany
wyłącznie w Wielkopolsce i tylko według
ściśle określonego przepisu. W Rogalowym Muzeum, będącym raczej miejscem praktycznej nauki niż typowym
muzeum, goście dowiadują się, jak przebiega wypiek nadziewanego makiem
rogala i biorą udział w degustacji.
Oprócz interaktywnego pokazu wypieku, muzeum przedstawia historię
świętomarcińskiego rogala. Rogalowe
pokazy trwają około 45 minut i codziennie są prowadzone także po angielsku.

| The Croissant Museum | Rogalowe Muzeum
The National Museum houses a
rich collection of Polish paintings dating back to as early as the sixteenth
century, as well modern Polish art in
the new wing. Moreover, the museum’s collections include impressive
artwork from Italy, the Netherlands
and Germany, as well as the largest
collection of Spanish art in Poland. The
museum’s most famous painting—
considering its sensational history—is
probably Beach in Pourville, one of
French impressionist Claude Monet’s
lesser-known paintings and the only
Monet on public display in Poland. In
2000, the 1882 oil painting was spectacularly stolen from the museum, being cut from its frame and replaced
with a cardboard copy. Only ten years
later were the police able to recover
the painting and return it to the museum. Although the descriptions of
the artwork in the museum are mainly
in Polish, selected paintings have extensive information about the artist
and topic in English.

Muzeum Narodowe ma w swojej kolekcji wiele obrazów polskich malarzy, z
których najstarsze pochodzą z szesnastego wieku. W nowym skrzydle budynku
przechowywane są dzieła polskiej sztuki
współczesnej. Ponadto w muzeum
można podziwiać dzieła artystów włoskich, holenderskich i niemieckich. Znajduje się w nim także największa w Polsce

i zwrócić muzeum dopiero dziesięć lat
później. Wprawdzie opisy dzieł sztuk w
muzeum są najczęściej po polsku, ale niektórym obrazom towarzyszą obszerne
informacje o artyście i temacie dzieła
także w języku angielskim.
