Situation
Bilbao’s premier league basketball team needed a new sports arena. For the new
Miribilla Sports Palace, the star architects from ACXT envisaged a net façade
which would be both an architectural feature and also provide protection against
people falling. The project had to meet the following requirements: high cutting
resistance when subjected to external influences, high tensile strength of
individual wires and mesh, and deformation resistance against malicious
damage.

More than 3’500 m2 of ROMBO G65/4 was installed to cover the whole Stadium.
Geobrugg Iberica successfully delivered the project as a turnkey solution –
design, material and installation out of one single hand. The Bilbao Arena got
awarded by the architecture website arch daily as the "Building of the year 2011":
