Fund for Religious collection In December, 2006 is very
deeply appreciated. This year, as of January 31st, the fund
has received $1,040,000 from 276 parishes. This is a major

goes directly to those religious communities that are in need.

Religious Education
The next Religion Education (CCD) session will be held on Saturday March 3, 2007 from 8am to 10am.
PAROCHIAL PENNIES/LINCOLN’S FOR LEARNING
The school children are trying to reach their goal of
200,000 pennies for the benefit of the school. Mr.
Theis, the school principal, promised that if the
goal is reached he will sleep in the school attic one night! The
children are trying very hard to reach their goal so that their
principal can keep his promise!. If anyone would like to help
them it would be much appreciated. (Paper money will be good
too!)
Registration for the new school year, 2007-2008 is now open
for all grades. Please call the school for more information

Parish English Lenten Mission. Our
Mission speakers will be Fr. John
Kuehner, C.Ss.R (right) and Fr.
Matthew Bonk, C.Ss.R (left). The
Mission will be held in our church beginning with a service at
7PM on Sunday, March 4th. Please mark these Mission dates
on your calendar - March 4 through Thursday, March 8th. Evening services will begin at 7pm . Everyone is encouraged to participate in our Parish Mission and you are invited to bring a friend

Ready for Lent?
John Smith was the only Protestant to move into a
large Catholic neighborhood. On the first Friday of
Lent, John was outside grilling a big juicy steak on
his grill. Meanwhile, all of his neighbors were eating
cold tuna fish for supper. This went on each Friday
of Lent.
On the last Friday of Lent, the neighborhood men
got together and decided that something had to be done about John.
He was tempting them to eat meat each Friday of Lent, and they couldn’t take it anymore.
They decided to try and convert John to be a Catholic. They went
over and talked to him and were so happy that he decided to join all of
his neighbors and become a Catholic. They took him to Church, and
the Priest sprinkled some water over him, and said, “You were born a
Baptist, you were raised a Baptist, and now you are Catholic.” The men
were so relieved; now their biggest Lenten temptation was resolved.
The next year’s Lenten season rolled around. The first Friday of Lent
came, and just at supper time, when the neighborhood was setting
down to their tuna fish dinner, came the wafting smell of steak cooking
on a grill. The neighborhood men could not believe their noses! WHAT
WAS GOING ON?
They called each other up and decided to meet over in John’s yard to
see if he had forgotten it was the first Friday of Lent. The group arrived
just in time to see John standing over his grill with a small pitcher of
water. He was sprinkling some water over his steak on the grill saying.
“You were born a cow, you were raised a cow, and now you are a fish!”
Remember: Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics
14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent.
Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are
18 yrs. of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this may take
only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to
maintain strength according to one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. The special Paschal fast and abstinence
are prescribed for Good Friday and encouraged for Holy Saturday.

LA CONFIRMACIÓN PARA ADULTOS
La Oficina para Catequesis a pedido del Cardenal de Chicago
esta ofreciendo un programa de preparación para la recepción
del sacramento de la Confirmación de Adultos Católicos
(edad 18 años o mas). Pueden participar a este programa
aquellos personas Católicas que han recibido el sacramento
del Bautismo y la Primera Comunión. Las clases comenzaran
el Martes 20 de Febrero y continuaran por espacio de 8 sesiones mas. El horario será de 7:00 PM a 9: 15 PM y se ofrecerán en la parroquia de Santa Francisca de Roma localizada al
1428 S 59th Cicero IL 60804 IL. La celebración del sacramento de la Confirmación se llevará el Miércoles 24 de Abril
en la Parroquia de San Juan de la Cruz localizada al 5005 S

El horario para el Miércoles de Ceniza es el siguiente:

El ayuno y abstinencia de carne es manada torio el Miércoles
de ceniza y el Viernes Santo. El ayuno es una sola comida
fuerte y es requerida para las personas mayores de 18 a los 59
años. Todos los Viernes durante la Cuaresma no se come carne y esto es para personas mayores de 14 años de edad.

polskim będzie o godz. 8-ej wieczorem.
Msze Święte w języku angielskim będą
o godz. 7:00 i 8:00 z rana oraz w
języku hiszpańskim o 6:00 wieczorem. Będą także
dwa nabożeństwa posypania gów popiołem o
godzinie 11:00 AM i 4:00 PM w języku angielskim i
hiszpańskim.
Podczas wszystkich Mszy Świętych będziemy
posypywać głowy popiołem na znak rozpoczęcia
czterdziestodniowej pokuty.
W Środę Popielcową obowiązuje post Ścisły dla
osób w przedziale wiekowym od 18 do 59 lat. Jest
to również dzień wstrzemięźliwości od pokarmów
mięsnych dla tych, którzy ukończyli 14
lat. Post i wstrzemięźliwość od
pokarmów mięsnych obowiązuje we
wszystkie piątki Wielkiego Postu.

Słowo misja dotyczy w swym najgłębszym znaczeniu samego Trójjedynego Boga,
który w swej wielkiej miłości wychodzi do człowieka.
Bóg Ojciec tak bardzo pragnie zbawienia grzesznej
ludzkości, że posyła na świat swego
Syna, który w tajemnicy wcielenia
przyjmuje ludzką naturę i umiera za
nas na krzyżu. Daje nam także Ducha Świętego, aby działał w głębi
ludzkich serc, prowadził i uświęcał
założony przez Jezusa Kościół. To
właśnie Kościołowi Chrystus powierzył kontynuowanie swej zbawczej
misji.
Już dziś serdecznie zapraszamy na Misje Święte –
czas szczególnej łaski, dany nam, aby na nowo odkryć dar wiary oraz przyjąć Bożą miłość. Zechciejmy
nasze codzienne problemy i zmagania zawierzyć
Bogu. Otwórzmy się na dar Słowa, aby w Jego świetle poszukać odpowiedzi na pytania, jakie stawia
nam życie. Zaplanujmy już dziś ten
tydzień tak, aby w pełni wykorzystać
ów niezwykły czas! Misje Święte
rozpoczną się 11 marca i zakończą
się 18 marca 2007 roku. Każdego
dnia będzie możliwość uczestniczyć
w kazaniach misyjnych o godzinie
12:00pm lub o 7:00pm
Donacje
Chcielibyśmy poinformować że jeśli
ktoś jest w wieku siedemdziesięciu i
pół roku lub starszy i otrzymuje opodatkowane IRA tzw. „Taxable IRA
distribution” może w pełni odpisać
od podatków charytatywną donację
do $100,000. Jest to możliwe o ile
ta suma jest dodana do dochodu całkowitego na formie
podatkowej. Donacja ta może być wielokrotna o ile nie
przekracza limitu $100,000.
Chcielibyśmy przez to zaprosić aby państwo wzięli to pod
uwagę przy składaniu donacji dla naszej parafii Matki Bożej
Częstochowskiej w Cicero.
