Blessing and Dismissal
Hail, Holy Queen
Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and
our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this
valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show
unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement,
O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R/: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Retiring Procession:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and
snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of
the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Beautiful Savior
1.
Beautiful Savior,
King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love thee,
Truly I’d serve thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.
2.
Fair are the meadows,
Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in flow'rs of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,
He makes our sorr'wing spirit sing.
3.
Fair is the sunshine,
Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.
4.
Beautiful Savior,
Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor,
Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be thine!

Pet Blessing
Eucharistic Adoration: On
Wednesdays at 1pm, the
church is open for the
Exposition and Adoration of
the Blessed Sacrament,
concluding with Benediction
at 3pm. At this time, people
come together to pray and be
with our Lord Jesus Christ. Consider bringing
someone with you...or bring their concerns,
fears and struggles and speak with our Lord
about them. Scripture is filled with moments
when people brought the sick and those
burdened directly to Jesus.

Our Faith
DISCIPLESHIP AND WEALTH
Sometimes we get the idea that having material wealth is a bad thing. We may convince ourselves that it is
the poor who are favored. In today’s readings, we discover that material wealth alone does not keep us from
discipleship. We will see that there are other gifts more important than material wealth, but even so, it is how
we use our gifts that matters most.
Today’s scriptures point to the value of the gifts of wisdom, trusting in God, and letting our actions reflect
the love of God from within. It is not gold that causes us to fall, but rather the desire for gold above all other
things. From the readings in Wisdom and Hebrews, we find the source of God’s gifts in our lives. Wisdom is
more valuable than worldly possessions. In Hebrews, we are challenged to look at our own values and admit
honestly what controls our lives.

TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came to me. All good things together came to me in her
company (Wisdom 7:7-11).
Psalm — Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy! (Psalm 90).
Second Reading — Indeed the word of God is living and effective (Hebrews 4:12-13).
Gospel — It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the
kingdom of God (Mark 10:17-30 [17-27]).

THE REMARKABLE SALESMAN
Christopher Columbus was the world’s most
remarkable salesman. He started out not knowing where he was going. When he arrived, he
didn’t know where he was. And when he returned, he
didn’t know where he had been. And he did it all
on a big cash advance and he received a repeat
order.

and support.
The Women’s Center needs YOU! Are you a college student, retired adult, or servant-hearted person
with M-F 9am-5pm availability, looking to build your resume or lend a hand? Starting at the end of
October onward, your help is needed to prepare bottles (clean, tag, and box them) for our next Baby Bottle
Campaign so they can be sent to churches and schools. The spare change we collect in this campaign is our
biggest fundraiser! It is a perfect project for a group who enjoy each others’ company while working on a
project as well as for those who enjoy working alone and in silence. We are located at 5116 N. Cicero Ave.
(just south of Foster, off 94). Hours are flexible and we offer shifts of 9am-noon, 1-4pm, or other weekly hours
preferable to your schedule. Or spend the entire day with us: clean bottles 9am-12noon, attend Mass in our
chapel at noon, eat lunch, then help until 4-5pm. Please let me know if you are interested. Contact: Paige at
[email protected] or 773.794.8807 for more details or to learn of other volunteer opportunities at
The Women’s Center.
October is Respect Life month and our parish is participating in The Baby Bottle Project
benefiting The Women’s Centers of Greater Chicago land. Please take a Baby Bottle home, fill it
with spare change, and return it the weekend of October 24 &25th. Thank you for helping defend
life, and remember to keep all pro-life undertakings in your prayers.
October 11- “The fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other right, is the right to life itself.
This is true of life from the moment of conception until its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a
human right — it is the very opposite. It is a deep wound in society.” Pope Benedict XVI Pray to end
abortion.

XXVIII Niedziela Zwykła
Boża mądrość.
Wstęp do liturgii
Msza Święta sprawowana we wspólnocie Kościoła
jest wspaniałą szkołą życia religijnego. W tej szkole
sam Chrystus jest Nauczycielem, który dzięki swej
miłości ofiaruje się nam każdego dnia podczas
Eucharystii. Karmi nas słowem i Chlebem życia,
które dają nam siłę potrzebną w pielgrzymce do
domu Ojca.
Za to, że w naszym życiu rzadko kierujemy się
mądrością Jezusa, otrzymaną w Jego szkole, przeprośmy teraz naszego Ojca, który jest w niebie.
Wstęp do liturgii słowa
Podczas każdej Liturgii, Bóg przychodzi do nas w
swoim Słowie, które jest wciąż żywe, „skuteczne i
ostrzejsze niż wszelki miecz obosieczny, zdolne
osądzić pragnienia i myśli serca”, każdego
człowieka.
Czytania dzisiejszej Liturgii Słowa przypomną nam
wartość i znaczenie Bożego Słowa w naszym życiu.
Święty Marek w Ewangelii, ukaże nam prawdę, że
zbytnie przywiązanie do rzeczy materialnych może
przeszkodzić w człowiekowi w przyjęciu mądrości
Bożej.
Wsłuchajmy się w święte teksty Pisma Świętego,
ponieważ wiara rodzi się ze słuchania.
W imieniu Biskupa Andrzeja
Wypycha serdecznie
zapraszamy wszystkich

"Good luck to our Academic Bowl Team. We
started the competition taking first place at Notre
Dame on Tuesday and competed at DePaul
College Prep on Wednesday.
St Thecla Football: The Falcons had an exciting
Homecoming weekend last week. The JV team had
an impressive offensive performance winning 24-0
and Varsity lost 20-12 in a hard fought game. Both
teams have records of 4-1 as they head into the run
for the playoffs. The DFL team continues to roll
through their opponents. This weekend: DFL plays
Saturday at 11 AM against St Symphorosa. JV has a
bye and Varsity plays St. Raphael on Sunday at
Commissioner's Park, 3704 111th St., Naperville.
Friday, Oct. 2nd the girls cross country teams
won the Championship trophy over 8 other
teams. Patti Gleason finished 1st for the Varsity
girls and 4 girls from JV finished in the top 10.
We are proud of our runners who trained diligently,
working on improving their time. Many runners met
and exceeded their personal goals from the start of
the season.
