Grażyna Bobilewicz PERFORMANCE ART BY WOMEN (Marina Abramović, Elena Kowylina, Eva Partum) The author of the text Performance Art By Women (Marina Abramović, Elena Kowylina, Eva Partum) presents performance art using as an example the output of three artists who come from culturally and geopolitically different countries (Serbia, Russia, Poland) and create their works at a cultural intersection. The analysis, based on exemplary material, refers to the category of intertextuality and contextuality. The comparison of the artists’ performance works has shown the differences in their understanding and approach to performance art, different attitude to the body as an object of activity, references to specific contexts and interpretative indexes that function within their frame: feminist context (positive, confrontational, introvert, critical, radical feminism, woman’s body as a medium, instrument and work of art, the quest for individual and artistic identity, identification with femininity, intimate space), existential and socio-critical context, formal context (strategies of performance realization, interactive communication, reenactment practice). The demonstration of clashes, parallelisms, relationships, analogies, intersections, inter-image connections in the performance works of presented artists reflects the intercultural dialogue of arts.
