ABOUT LOCATION
Spodek (Polish 'saucer') is a sports and entertainment arena located in Katowice, at 35 Wojciecha Korfantego Ave. The hall is
managed by Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji in Katowice and is the property of the city. The shape of the main hall
resembles slightly a flying saucer (the so-called UFO), which resulted from combining facility’s two main functions: a sports
hall and an entertainment hall. The main hall is adjoined by an ice-rink, a gym and a hotel which are connected by the socalled mezzanine. Spodek hosts among others volleyball, basketball and ice hockey matches, concerts, academic
conferences, circus performances, revues on ice, circus revues and market events. The volume of the entire facility is
338,732m3.
