2. Educational goals and aims
To prepare students for USMLE Step 1 Exam in the field of Microbiology. The seminar sessions are
organized as:

8. Information about drugs (mechanism of action, indication, adverse effects) used in the treatment of
infection, hormonal, cardiovascular, neurological, pulmonary, psychiatric disease.
9. Introduction of the latest progress in the pharmacology.
10. Specific topics include: clinical contributors to variable drug response such as hepatic dysfunction, renal
dysfunction, age-, sex-, drug interaction effects, and pharmacogenomics. Additional sessions are devoted to
specific classes of therapeutics such as anticancer, neurology, and cardiovascular therapeutics. Basic
information on pharmacotherapeutics, toxicology, pharmacovigilance, Evidence based medicine, ethics and
clinical research methodology.
