Title:​ Welcome to the Business C(o)alifornia! Fields of activity: Applied Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry/Chemical Technology, Economics/Business Administration/Marketing, Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering, Electronic/Electrotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mining/Mineral Resources Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Physics/Physics Engineering, Power Engineering, Production Engineering/Management Examination type:​ Project or Practical work Number of ECTS credits issued:​ 1 Learning Goals and Objective: Participants will learn principles of power engineering based on fossil fuels and find out about alternative fuel technologies that can be implemented in order to protect the environment and cut down coal usage. They will study a matter of air pollution and how it can be dealt with. The students will also develop their soft skills and enlarge their knowledge about setting up a new business. Syllabus

Name of activity Pitching Number of working hours 3 Type of activity Workshop Lecturer Krzysztof Nowak Short summary of content This workshop will be an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills specifically in the context of pitching an idea or a product. The workshop will consist of practical exercises by individual participants. Expected effect After the workshop the participants will be able to formulate any concept in a form of short engaging speech, allowing them to attract the interest of the listener. Name of activity Examination Number of working hours 5 Type of activity Case study Lecturer Jarosław Zuwała Short summary of content Students will be asked to think of a solution to a certain energy problem in terms of fossil fuels and their impact on the environment. In groups they will work on answers to specific issues considering economic and technological aspects. The results will be presented in front of a teacher and are considered as final examination. Expected effect Through Case Study the importance of smart usage of fossil fuels will be stressed. Students will have a chance to think of different alternatives and amendments that could be made in present technologies.
