Known Issues
Question #1. Why I am able to view some images but not others?
Answer #1: The Poland, Roman Catholic Church Books, 1600-1950 is a collection of records
from three different dioceses; each of the dioceses granted different rights to publish the images
online. Many images are available for all users, without having to log in.
Others, however, are currently limited to members of the sponsoring organization, the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. All viewing restrictions are at the request of the record
custodians.
At the present time, restrictions on the following localities are in place:
Katowice - Images that are available to all users:

Registration Problems: If users with LDS accounts are not able to view images after signing in,
it may be due to a registration problem, not an image access problem. Please call 1-866-4061830 in the United States, find your country's support number at
https://www.familysearch.org/help/phoneList or contact Patron Services at
[email protected]. Please include a brief description of the problem and steps taken thus
far to resolve the issue.
Question #2: I get a message which says "Sign in to view this image". Even after signing in,
why I am still unable to view the images?
Answer #2: Whenever possible, FamilySearch makes images available for all users. However,
ultimate rights to view images on our website are granted by the record custodians. Data Privacy
rules prohibit viewing the following records:




Czestochowa - All birth images must be 100 years or older; all marriage images must be
100 years or older, and all death images must be 30 years or older.
Radom - All birth images must be 100 years or older; all marriage images must be 75
years or older, and all death images must be 30 years or older.
Lublin - All birth images must be 100 years or older; all marriage images must be 75
years or older, and all death images must be 30 years or older.
Tarnow - All birth images must be 100 years or older; all marriage images must be 75
years or older, and all death images must be 30 years or older.
If any record on a digital folder contains birth records from the last 100 years, for example, the
entire digital folder is restricted.
The Historical Records collections will be updated each year to show new unrestricted records.
FamilySearch respects and strives to adhere to all privacy laws respective to preserving and
providing access to genealogical records in its collection.
Question #3: How can I see images 151 to 161 for Łódź > Bęczkowice > Deaths (Akta zgonów)
1868-1874?
Answer #3: These images are damaged, and show only a black screen. These images are direct
capture and are therefore unavailable for viewing.
Question #4: Are all 5 films shown in the Library Catalog under "Kirchenbuch, 1750-1937" for
Poland, Roman Catholic Church Books, Katowice, Koszęcin available on-line?
Answer #4: Only film 2291540 is available on-line. The remainder of the microfilms can be
ordered to view in a FamilySearch Center. For instructions on ordering microfilm see Ordering
Microfilm or Microfiche.
Question #5: Is there a way to view images that are not online?
Answer #5: The images of this collection are direct capture images, which means there is no
film to fall back on. (See also #3 above).
Question #6: When searching for Poland, Roman Catholic Church Books, 1600-1950, Katowice
Zabrze, All Saints (Allerheiligen), Birth index (Indeks urodze) 1765-1831, I get Katowice,
Gliwice, All Saints (Allerheiligen) instead. How do I find the records I am searching?
Answer #6: Records for Katowice Zabrze, All Saints (Allerheiligen), Birth index (Indeks
urodze) 1765-1831 are actually Gliwice, Church Records Index, 1765-1831. Records for
Katowice, Zabrze, All Saints (Allerheiligen), Birth index (Indeks urodze) 1765-1831 are not in
the possession of FamilySearch.
