Academy of Physical Education is organized in three faculties and four separate courses which run in the full
time and part-time systems (extramural). Academy also run course for doctoral students. Additionally it has
post-graduate studies in selected fields physical culture and management. At this moment there are over 5000
full-time and extramural undergraduate students, 60 doctoral students and 500 post-graduate students at the
Academy. The teaching cadre is composed of people with a renown and established authority in the research
and teaching fields which results in high standard of lead courses. There is over 260 employees in research and
teaching positions and 40 professors and 130 employees with Ph.D. title between them. The research and
didactic process is supported with use of the following lab facilities:
• Interdepartmental functional research laboratory,
• Motion analysis and motor control laboratory at The Dept. of Human Motor Behavior,
• Biomechanics Laboratory,
• Laboratory at The Department of Systems Analysis,
• Laboratories of Biochemistry and Physiology Departments.
• Each department is equipped with basic research devices and computer programs which allow for successful
statistical analyses and scientific papers writing.

Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw is a modern university that refers to the tradition. It
educates students and conducts scientific research being an integral part of the national and European systems
of education and science. The University takes advantage of every opportunity to become even more friendly to
its students and staff. The qualified research and teaching staff consisting of over 400 distinguished fellows
provides a high level of education. In the course of training university teachers strive to equip students with the

Physical Education in Warsaw guarantees the acquisition of qualifications necessary for professional work.
Graduates of the University are creative individuals with interpersonal and communication skills. The policy of
the University is aimed at the implementation of the Institutional Education Quality Assurance System. Its
objective is to continuously monitor and improve the quality of educational services. The University’s long
tradition strengthened its prominent position as an academic and sports centre among other universities of
similar profile. The University has placed high in the national rankings for many years which speaks in favour of
its prestigious character. Education at our university is conducted in the form of full-time and part-time studies
at the undergraduate (Bachelor), second degree (MA), and third degree (doctorate) levels, and in the form of
postgraduate education and courses. The University of the Third Age operating at Józef Piłsudski University is a
centre of education for adults. Activities within this initiative put special emphasis on the motor activity of
seniors, as well as education on the subjects of healthy lifestyle, health promotion and preventive treatment.
The University is one of the first universities in Poland to have implemented the provisions of the Bologna
Process, joining the European space for higher education. A three-stage education system, the ECTS credits, as
well as including European issues in teaching promote mobility among our students and teachers. The
University collaborates with recognised international centres in the implementation of many research works,
and provides young researchers with opportunities for development, thus contributing to the promotion of
scientific movement. A number of bilateral agreements with foreign universities help raise educational
standards.
Our students have the opportunity of gaining an education in a unique environment, among representatives of
different cultures and nationalities.

The University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw (AWF) is a public university with more than 4,000
students from Poland and abroad. It is a very dynamic and one of the fastest growing higher education
institutions focused on teaching and learning in the field of sport, physical education, tourism and
physiotherapy. At present the university offers three-degree studies: Bachelor, Master and PhD of Physical
Education Science, Sport Science and Physiotherapy Sciences with 19 specializations. AWF is home to a number
of centers and laboratories that are designed to facilitate research of graduate students and their academic
supervisors. These include among the others: the Laboratory of Biomechanical Analysis, the Laboratory of
Exercise and Research, the Laboratory of Functional Examination in Internal Diseases. The University School of
Physical Education (AWF) participates actively in international programmes, especially in the EU Framework
Programmes such as Lifelong Learning Programme ERASMUS. In 2009 the University School of Physical
Education in Wroclaw was recognized as the best Polish Sport University.
