EASTER ENERGY
On Easter morning when the disciples saw
the evidence of the Resurrection, they did not
at first grasp it. John reports that “they did not
yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise
from the dead.” We, on the other hand, have
both scripture and church tradition to teach us.
Jesus Christ’s resurrection is at the core of our
Christian faith.
All of today’s readings tell us how compelling this event was
for the first Christians. There is great energy in all the readings. Peter preaches with authority and conviction. Paul calls
for Christians to change their lives. In the Gospel reading we
see Peter and John in a footrace to reach Jesus’ tomb and see
with their own eyes the evidence that they still could not understand or completely believe.
How can some of this Easter energy be restored to us today?
Do we let the astonishing news of the Resurrection touch us
now? Does it call us to action? To deeper faith? To conversion? What new life will be reborn in us and our parish community this Easter morning?
The second collection next weekend is for Diocesan
Obligations.
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE COLLECTION
The second collection this weekend is for Educational Excellence at Saint Joseph School. Most of our parishioners were
educated and formed their character at our school. Needless to
say, they carry many fond memories of this educational institution which made such an impact on their entire life. During the
Easter season there are many alumni who come home from
various states to celebrate with their families. Whether you are
a graduate of St. Joseph School, a visitor or a parishioner, we
trust that the quality of education of children is the highest priority in your charitable giving. The students of our school depend on your assistance, need your support and count on your
commitment and generosity. The second collection this weekend will be taken by the students of Saint Joseph School.
In Honor of the Solemnity of the Annunciation - celebrated
on April 8th, the flowers on the altar of Our Lady of Czestochowa are given in memory of Joseph & Gladys Perzanoski by
the family.
FIRST FRIDAY
First Friday adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin
after the 8:30am Children’s Mass. All members of the Sacred
Heart Society are invited to participate in the 8:30 am Mass and
following the Liturgy they will recite their usual prayer with the
Litany to Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Mass at 7:00am for the living members of Sacred Heart
Society will continue to be scheduled and parishioners including members of the Society are welcome to participate.

PALM SUNDAY REFLECTIONS
There is a special magic for Palm Sunday celebrations.
Even people who have been away from the Church feel the
need to participate in Divine Worship. We are grateful to
many people who prepared our Basilica to celebrate the anniversary of Jesus’ entry to the city of Jerusalem.
As always, the Altar Guild members under the guidance
of Sylvia Kitka decorated the church, covered the crosses,
and arranged the palms. We thank Jane Gogolinski for her
extra-ordinary talent of braiding special palms for the celebrants.
St. Joseph school children with their parents attended
9:30am Mass and joined in the reading of the Passion.
A solemn procession took place at the 11:00am Mass with
the participation of the Sacred Heart Society members. The
children of the Polish Saturday School with their traditional
home- made-palms took part in the Liturgy together with
many altar servers.
The traditional singing of the Passion by soloists is unique
to St. Joseph Basilica. The Passion was sung by Fr. Gregory
Chodkowski, Slawek Lachcik and Karol Wojtarowicz, with
the accompaniment of the Basilica choir under the direction
of our organist, Robert Wojcik
I am grateful to all who shared their time and talent to
enhance the Liturgical Services on Palm Sunday at our Basilica.
EASTER MESSAGE
Above the turmoil and conflicts of our broken world,
Easter stands as a most significant day for humanity. It lifts
our hearts and fills our minds with joy and love. For the first
time in our history we celebrate the day when death was
conquered by life. Early on the first Easter morning, a
mighty act of God took place; Christ rose from the dead and
appeared to his disciples and later on to many other people.
This means that human life is no longer limited by the cycle
of birth to death. Christ has shared the gift of His life with
us and His resurrection from the dead points to our resurrection.
On this joyful Sunday when we celebrate the new life of
Jesus Christ, we wish you and your family a Happy, Healthful and Joyful Easter.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
The nine-day Novena to the Divine Mercy began on Good
Friday at 6:30 services and prayed each morning thereafter
at 6:30am Mass. It will conclude with services on April 7 at
3:00pm with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, singing of
the chaplet and benediction
The Chaplet to Divine Mercy at 3:00 with benediction
will follow.
ANOINTING SERVICE
The sacrament of the sick will be administered in our Basilica next Sunday, April 7 at 2:30pm. The Sacred Heart Society members will be on hand to assist with the elderly and
disabled. We encourage parishioners to bring their loved
ones for this special sacramental opportunity.
40th ANNUAL FESTIVAL
Plans are progressing for our ANNUAL FESTIVAL to be
held on June 14, 15, & 16th. There will be many attractions
to suit everyone such as : Polish American Food, Chicken
Barbeque on Sunday, Musical Entertainment by popular
groups, Games of Chance, $4,000 in Money Raffle, Special
Gifts, Wheelbarrow of Cheer, Polish Booth, Amusement
Rides for youngsters, etc.
We ask parishioners for their assistance in donating items,
purchasing their raffle tickets, which were recently mailed,
and we welcome your ideas and suggestions to make this
another successful festival.

Next festival meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April
4th at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. We invite all parishioners and friends who would like to lend a helping hand in
this enormous undertaking.

MOC WIELKANOCY
W wielkanocny poranek, kiedy uczniowie
zobaczyli po raz pierwszy dowody
Zmartwychwstania nie od razu je zrozumieli.
Jan Ewangelista pisze: „Nie rozumieli
jeszcze Pisma, które mówi, że On ma
powstać z martwych.” My w odróżnieniu od
nich posiadamy zarówno Pismo jak i
Tradycję Kościoła, która uczy nas o Zmartwychwstaniu,
będącego w centrum naszej wiary.
Wszystkie dzisiejsze czytania mówią nam jak nieodparte
wrażenie wydarzenie Zmartwychwstania wywarło na
pierwszych chrześcijanach. Przepełnione są niesamowitą
mocą: Piotr przemawia z przekonaniem i pewnością, Paweł
nawołuje chrześcijan do odmiany życia, a w Ewangelii
widzimy Piotra i Jana biegnących ku pustemu grobowi i
doświadczających wydarzeń, których jeszcze do końca nie
rozumieją.
W jaki sposób moc Zmartwychwstania może być w nas
odnowiona dzisiaj? Czy pozwalamy zadziwiającej wieści
dotrzeć do nas o dotknąć nas? Czy wzywa nas ona do
działania? Do głębszej wiary? Do nawrócenia? Jak życie
zostanie odrodzone w nas i w naszej wspólnocie parafialnej
w ten Wielkanocny Poranek?

SAKRAMENT CHORYCH

udzieleniem Sakramentu Namaszczenia Chorych.

szczególny Sakrament umocnienia i uzdrowienia. Prosimy
też o pomoc w dotarciu do świątyni tym, którzy sami nie są
wstanie przybyć na wspólną modlitwę.
NIEDZIELA MIŁOSIERDZIA
Druga Niedziela Wielkanocna jest tradycyjnie już
poświęcona celebracji Tajemnicy Bożego Miłosierdzia.
Przygotowujemy się to tego święta poprzez Nowennę
odmawianą codziennie rano. Punktem kulminacyjnym
będzie Nabożeństwo do Miłosierdzia Bożego, które zostanie
odprawione bezpośrednio po Celebracji Sakramentu
Chorych najbliższą niedzielę. Bardzo serdecznie zapraszamy
wszystkich parafian do wychwalania Boga za Jego wielką
miłość ku nam przejawiająca się poprzez Jego Miłosierdzie
nad nami.
LIST BISKUPI
Wielkanoc to czas radości w Panu, który dzieli z nami
swoje życie i swoją miłość. Prosimy o zapoznanie się z
treścią listu biskupiego, który kieruje do nas z tej okazji.

ZBIÓRKA EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na podnoszenie
poziomu edukacji w Szkole św. Józefa. Wielu z naszych
parafian kształciło się w tej szkole Nie trzeba dodawać, że
wielu z nich posiada miłe wspomnienia szkoły, która miała
bardzo wielki wpływ na ich całe życie. Wierzymy, że nie
tylko absolwenci naszej szkoły, ale również parafianie i
goście, stawiają jakość edukacji bardzo wysoko w randze
potrzeb, które wspierają swoimi ofiarami. Studenci naszej
szkoły polegają na was, potrzebują waszej pomocy i liczą na
wasze oddanie i hojność. Dzisiejszą drugą kolektę będą
zbierali uczniowie Szkoły św. Józefa.

Ciemności Wielkiego Tygodnia zniknęły i zabłysnął poranek wielkanocny. O mój Jezu, pozwól mi również pójść szukać
Ciebie! Napełnij nasze serca mocną wiarą i gorącą miłością, którą miały szukające kobiety! Nie pozwól nam być
niewierzącymi, lecz wierzącymi!
Jezus nie miał nawet własnego grobu! Dlaczego? Ponieważ nie należał do świata. Życie ziemskie Zbawiciela było tylko
wędrówką i to ciężką. Nie spoglądał nigdy wstecz na odbytą drogę, lecz chwalił i dziękował Bogu Ojcu za wszystko. Daj mi,
Jezu, łaskę, bym również dziękowała za wszystko. Nie patrz, Jezu, na moje zaplamione serce, lecz przyjdź! oczyść je!
Kamień przed grobem Zbawiciela. Zastosowanie: jak często pozostaję siedząca na mej drodze i nie mogę sobie pomóc i nie
pozwalam sobie pomóc! Są to tylko małe kamienie, które wiatr Boży rozrzuca na mojej drodze, aby mnie przeprowadzić
przez nie bliżej Ciebie. Wtedy przychodzi Zły i ukazuje mały kamień wielkim przed mymi oczyma i mówi: "Usiądź na nim i
pozostań tu, ponieważ nie możesz go podnieść".
Nie bój się, wstań i idź dalej, nawet jeśli jesteś taka słaba i mizerna! Pomyśl o boleściach Jezusa i Maryi, a uda się.
Pomóż mi, Jezu, żebym lot orła osiągnęł, nie pozostawała zawsze siedząc na ziemi jak kuropatwa. Daj, by moja wola była
mocna! Czemu służy dobra wola, jeśli nie jest dość mocna, by przynieść ofiarę? Nie tylko słowami, nie, pozwól mi czynami
sprawić radość Tobie i Maryi!
Daj mi, o Jezu, lepiej poznać siebie samą! O, wtedy będę mogła sprawić Ci więcej radości. Jezu, lepiej poznać siebie samą!
