Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Once again, in his letter to the Galatians,
Paul reminds us that the center of our faith is
Jesus, who ͞set us free for freedom͟. He defined
this freedom as the opportunity to ͞serve one
another with love͟. This is a very different
meaning of the word freedom than much of society
understands today. Freedom now often means
that I can do or have anything I desire without
assessing the cost to anyone else.
Let us try to take Paul͛s advice and pray
that we may be led by the Spirit to reach Jesus͛
sublime meaning of the word ͞freedom͟.
In today͛s Gospel passage, Jesus is traveling
to Jerusalem with some of his disciples. He makes
it very clear to his companions that anyone who
chooses to be his follower must be ready to give up
anything that stands in the way of this
commitment, and continue with him to the end of
the journey.
At this time in history, our country and the
world are faced with some grave threats to our
freedom. Let us all join together in intense prayer
that God will come to the aid of freedom loving
people everywhere. As we continue in Ordinary
Time, each week we will dedicate our Closing Song
to be this prayer. This week we will sing # 844 For
the Healing of the Nations.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASS
In the 2016-2017 school year, we will be offering a Continuing Education class for young
people who have already received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Father Janusz will be
teaching this class to continue formation in the
Faith. The class will be held on Tuesday
evenings at no charge. If you are interested,
please sign up for it at the Religious Ed office

The Knights of Columbus Council 9267 meeting will be Monday, June 27 in the lower church
hall .There will be a repast at 7:30pm with
meeting at 8pm.
