Sumaryczna zawartość tych pierwiastków, określona wartością ekwiwalentu niklu, decyduje o rodzaju i termodynamicznej trwałości struktury osnowy odlewów. Daniel Medyński „Effect of nickel content and heat treatment parameters on structure and selected properties of nodular cast iron Ni-Mn-Cu” Abstract The subject of this work is nickel-manganese-copper austenitic cast iron with graphite ball where the nickel content (from 4,8% Ni to 9,3% Ni) is lower in comparison to Ni-Resist cast iron. The lower nickel content is compensated by manganese and copper. The total content of these elements, which is established on the basis of nickel equivalent, determines the nature and thermodynamic hardness of the castings structure. It is possible to tune such a chemical content that the raw casting with purely austenitic structure will change its structure in thermal treatment process and achieve resistance to abrasive wear. This is the effect of austenite transformation into hard, high-carbon acicular ferrite (layered) or even martenzite. Adjustment of thermal treatment parameters may be used to change the degree of properties selecting between strength and hardness (abrasive resistance) of castings and their plasticity and corrosion resistance. Despite the changes resulting from thermal treatment, no considerable changes were noted in the scope of corrosion resistance of the castings. The relatively high total content of alloying elements (especially nickel) ensures high corrosion resistance of castings which is typical for austenitic cast iron.
