Firmware 5.16.371 (January 27, 2017)
Updates:
READER PROGRAM
1. Added ability to work with EPUB books the format structure of which doesn’t fully
match the standard (before this function was added, it was not possible to open some
books in EPUB format, including those obtained from Google Books)
2.Capability of turning pages when operating the speech synthesizer (Text-to-Speech).
Herewith after turning the page, the speech synthesizer begins reading from the top of the
new page.
3.Support of WPA2 Enterprise authorization mode when connecting to Wi-Fi added.
MODIFICATIONS:
1.Dictionary user interface updated (font of dictionary entries revised, graphic interface
modified, translation of interface element signatures revised).
Fixed:
1.Malfunctions in synchronization of large files in Dropbox.
2.Possible device hang up when changing folders in Dropbox.
3. The device boot progress bar sometimes continued displaying even after the download
was complete.
4.Reading application hang up when the time reached 00:00.
5. Page turn button locking up after editing a word in the dictionary window in the reading
application.
6. Possible malfunctions in the dictionary during rapid scrolling in a dictionary entry.
7. Volume reset to default level when turning off the device with the Audio Player
application running.

8. No collection tag in web interface of PocketBook Cloud if new collection has been
created on device directly before uploading book to cloud.
9. Not correct USB disconnection from PCs running Windows OS in some cases.
10. Problems connecting the device to computers running certain versions of Mac OS.
11. Possible incorrect display of battery charge level after charging the device.
12. Other minor fixes.

Updates:
Reader program
1. Book opening speed increased.
2. Option to choose how to work with PDF books: the Quick or Universal method. Users
make this choice in the Open with context menu, which opens by a long press on the book
in the Library. The choice users make for each book is saved by the system and then used
whenever the book is reopened. The Quick method is used by default, and for most books
it displays the correct layout. However, for books with more complicated layouts or Adobe
DRM-protected books, the Universal method should be used instead.
3. Text-to-Speech improvements:
a) User interface enhancements;
b) The underlining of words currently being voiced by Text-to-Speech.
4. In-book dictionary user interface improvements.
5. Addition of the new Reading with a Dictionary mode. Now users can read with in-book
dictionary access in two ways:
a) Quick translation of any word using a long press in the book’s text. With this
method the dictionary works like in previous versions. When the dictionary is not needed

any more, the user can close the window by tapping on the corresponding button in the
top-right.
b) The new Reading with a Dictionary mode. This mode can be activated in the
Reader settings menu. In this mode, users can quickly open the dictionary by tapping on a
word, then hide the dictionary by tapping anywhere else on the screen. Also, when users
need to refer to the dictionary more often, they can use the Freeze dictionary window
function and divide the device’s screen into two areas: the reading area and the dictionary.
This mode will be permanently active until the user pushes Exit in the top-right corner of
the dictionary window.
6. Book summaries displayed for EPUB books in the Book Information menu, as well as in
the context menu opened by a long press on the book in the Library.
Other improvements
1. Device boot speed improved.
2. Option to set book covers as power off device logo.
3. Audio Player UI enhancements.
4. Option to select reading applications (or reading modes) in the context menu accessed by a
long press on the book in the Library depending on the settings in the extensions.cfg user file.
5. The boot logo by default was changed. The device boot progress indication added.
Removed Features
1. The Library app no longer displays MP3 files in order to prevent library confusion.
Fixed:
1. Inability to follow links on some websites.
2. Inability to connect to Wi-Fi access points with apostrophes in the name or password.
3. In certain cases, the incorrect sorting of Genre folders in the Library.
