NO BAD NEWS
There are many times when we say, “Tell
me what I want to hear, and don’t confuse
me with facts.” And we don’t take kindly to
someone who might be bold enough to snuff
out our expectations.
The biggest problem with such an attitude is not that we miss
out on the truth or the facts, but that we miss out on the new
and surprising gifts others can give us. Like the townspeople in
today’s Gospel story, we too often refuse to allow others to
display the talents that can be good news for us.
Today’s readings call for hospitality and faith and discernment. Hospitality opens the doors of our hearts and minds to
the “stranger” among us, no matter how familiar he or she may
seem to be. Faith enables us to accept the gifts of others, no
matter how alarming or “strange” they may seem to be. Discernment helps us discover the prophets in our midst, no matter
how amazing they may seem to be. Hospitality, faith, and discernment—cultivate these. Then, nobody can bring bad news.
The second collection this week is designated
for Utilities and Energy.
CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION
This Friday, July 13, at 7:00pm we will pray the rosary during
an outdoor procession in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. As always, we invite parishioners, friends, organizations, and especially the Children of Mary to take part in this beautiful tribute
to Our Lady.
The flowers in front of the Blessed Mother altar in honor of
Our Lady of Fatima are given in memory of Kazmiera
Lazarowski from daughters Ann Scanlon and Gen Lariviere.

ST. ANNE NINE DAY NOVENA
This Novena to St. Anne will begin at our Basilica on July 18
after 6:30am Mass and continue at that same time every morning until July 26. We urge you to make time in your summer
calendar to take part in this powerful form of prayer.
The St. Anne Society was organized at St. Joseph Parish in
1926. She is the patroness of grandmothers and probably for
this reason this society has attracted a large number of ladies
who provide spiritual support for the parish and financial assistance in numerous projects. Grandmothers have played an increasing role in the education of grandchildren, therefore we
ask that you consider joining this organization and dedicate
your grandchildren to the protection of St. Anne.

PRE-K REGISTRATION
Pre-K at St. Joseph School offers the most diversified program for children according to their abilities. To respond to
the particular mentalities and complex personality of the children there is a different program for three-year olds and fouryear olds. The three years olds attend three days per week and
four year olds five days per week. Each age level is almost
full.
Each child at each age level is exposed to a particular curriculum conducive to his or her capacity. In doing so we are
responding to the expectations of the parents who want their
children to develop independence, establish an academic foundation, acquire a love of learning and give them the opportunity to learn at their individual pace. Both levels are exposed to
social, religious and cultural activities, character formation,
weekly computer classes, use of the library, integrated diocesan curriculum, reading, mathematics, social studies, phonics,
science and physical education programs. This highly advanced program was developed after much research and cooperation of teachers from many Catholic Schools in our country.
The school is aware that visual and auditory equipment, secure
outdoor playscape contribute enormously to the holistic education of a child.
The progress of a child in this curriculum will give them a

Birthday blessings this month go out to our 90 plus parishioners Emily Racicot (July 18), Mary Polacek (July 29), and Alice

happiness. The birthday flower of July is the Larkspur, which
symbolizes carefree summer days, feeling lighthearted, and just
having fun. Larkspur were very popular gift flowers in Victorian times. The flowers symbolize an open heart. For those born
in the month of July, the ruby is the traditional birthstone. The
ruby is associated with devotion, integrity, courage, and happiness.
PILGRIMAGE TO DOYLESTOWN
The pilgrimage to Doylestown is a beautiful opportunity of
our parish family to entreat God’s mercy on our needs through
the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa solemnity. The
Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Joseph is honored and proud to
sponsor this pilgrimage. We encourage the members to participate in this jubilee pilgrimage with friends and family
The trip will last only 2 days and involves sightseeing of the
Amish country, other visits in the local area, the Museum of
Our Lady of Czestochowa and devotional, liturgical services.

PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE IS EVERYONE’S
RESPONSIBILITY
It is every adult’s moral responsibility to protect the children
from becoming possible victims by reporting the suspected
abuse or neglect to the responsible authorities. Sexual abuse of
minors is a pervasive societal problem, and only concerted and
sustained efforts by all adults in every segment of society can
help to protect children and youth. For particular help you may

Movie Nights at the Youth Center-The Webster Youth Group
will host movie nights in July at the Youth Center. Popcorn and

Jak pokazuje św. Paweł, nawet nasze
słabości i niedomagania mogą stać się dla
nas szansą. Pan Bóg nie chce naszej
udawanej doskonałości i nieskazitelności,
ale pragnie, żebyśmy doświadczając
własnych ograniczeń, ufnie zwracali się do Niego o pomoc. Do
takich właśnie ludzi: pogubionych, przegranych i kruchych,
Bóg kieruje swoje słowo. Bylebyśmy się tylko nie okazali
„ludem buntowników”, o zatwardziałych sercach”, głuchych na
słowo Boże.
NABOŻEŃSTWO FATIMSKIE
W piątek 13 lipca o godz. 19:00 po raz kolejny zapraszamy
na Nabożeństwo Fatimskie, w czasie którego będziemy
odmawiali różaniec krocząc w procesji ku czci Matki Bożej.
Po procesji zgromadzimy się na wspólną adorację
Najświętszego Sakramentu. Do udziału zapraszamy
wszystkich parafian, a szczególnie członków organizacji
parafialnych oraz dzieci.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. ANNY
W dniach od 18 do 26 lipca w sanktuarium w Sturbridge
zostanie odprawiona 125 Nowenna do św. Anny. Tegoroczny
temat nowennowych rozważań brzmi: "Z pokolenia w
pokolenie". W ciągu dziewięciu dni różnorodni goście będą
prezentowali rozważania powiązane z powyższym tematem.
Zapraszamy parafian do wzięcia udziału w tym bardzo
głęboko
duchowym
wydarzeniu.

PIELGRZYMKA DO DOYLESTOWN
Pielgrzymka do Sanktuarium Matki Bożej w Doylstown to

Program przedszkolny w St. Joseph School oferuje
edukację dostosowaną do potrzeb każdego dziecka. Zajęcia
są prowadzone trzy dni w tygodniu dla trzylatków i pięć dni
w tygodniu dla czterolatków. W procesie nauczania staramy
się sprostać potrzebom dzieci na poszczególnych poziomach
wiekowych jak również odpowiedzieć na oczekiwania
rodziców, co do jakości zapewnianego kształcenia.
Zintegrowana edukacja obejmuje kształtowanie sfery
intelektualne i duchowej dziecka w oparciu o odpowiedzenie

DOROCZNA MSZA ST. ANN SOCIETY
Stowarzyszenie św. Anny zaprasza na coroczna Mszę
św., która zostanie odprawiona 29 lipca o godz. 8:15. Do
udziału są proszeni przede wszystkim wszyscy
członkowie Stowarzyszenia z odznaczeniami i
emblematami. Po liturgii
uczestnicy Mszy św. są
zaproszeni do szkoły na śniadanie.

WAKACJE I PAN BÓG
„Boże, Ty Boże mój, Ciebie szukam; Ciebie pragnie moja
dusza, ciało moje tęskni za Tobą, jak ziemia zeschła i
pragnąca wody”. (Ps 63,2)
Myśląc o wakacjach, może przyjść do głowy cytat z
Psalmu 63. Odnosi się on do Boga… A wakacje? No
właśnie. Wszyscy chyba czekają na nie z upragnieniem.
Nasze ciała wyczerpane pracą, codzienną aktywnością,
codziennym oglądaniem tych samych widoków, pragną
odmiany, odpoczynku, wytchnienia. Dzieci, dorośli
zmęczeni aktywnością na co dzień, czekają z
upragnieniem na ten „magiczny” czas odpoczynku. Ci,
którzy nie mogą z niego skorzystać w letnie miesiące,
patrzą z zazdrością na pakujących walizki, załatwiających
bilety, rezerwujących domki letniskowe, hotele i miejsca
ze skrawkiem plaży… „Jak zeschła ziemia…”. Byleby
wyjechać, oderwać się od wszystkiego…
Niestety, w to „wszystko” tak często jest włączony
także Bóg i to, co z Nim związane. Wybierając miejsce
odpoczynku, rzadko myśli się o tym, czy będzie
możliwość uczestniczenia np. w niedzielnej Mszy św.
Biura podróży przecież nie biorą tego zupełnie pod
uwagę. Sami zresztą, gdyby nas o to ktoś zapytał,
uśmiechnęlibyśmy się, myśląc: Też problem – będzie
możliwość, to będzie, nie będzie, trudno… Ile razy
spowiadamy się, że nie byliśmy na Mszy św., bo byliśmy
daleko od kościoła, albo nie było kościoła czy księdza w
pobliżu lub Msza była rano, a kto wstaje rano w wakacje,
żeby pójść na Mszę św. ...? Po prostu w czasie wakacji
Pan Bóg może poczekać, wieczność nie ucieknie, przecież
pomodlę się trochę, i dobrze będzie. W KOŃCU TO
WAKACJE!!!
Życie religijne też często doznaje uszczerbku, gdy
trzeba zaoszczędzić czas. Są ważniejsze sprawy. Co
gorsza, dorośli wdrażają w ten sposób myślenia dzieciom
i młodzieży. Świat jest tak absorbujący i pociągający, że
Pan Bóg i Jego „sprawy” wydają się mało atrakcyjne i
sprowadzane są do niezbyt przyjemnego obowiązku. A
przecież ten świat przemija i my razem z nim. Kiedyś
wraz z nami umrze to, o co tak zabiegaliśmy. Przypomina
się Jezus mówiący do Marty, gdy ta tak bardzo się starała
o sprawy ważne, choć mniej istotne: „Marto, Marto,
troszczysz się i niepokoisz o wiele, a potrzeba mało albo
tylko jednego. Maria obrała najlepszą cząstkę, której nie
będzie pozbawiona”.
Ta najlepsza cząstka to słuchanie Jezusa, trwanie przy
Nim… Mówimy sobie być może: „Mam czas, zdążę
poukładać się z Bogiem, ale najpierw muszę zadbać o
swoje życie…”. Tylko, że my nie jesteśmy panami
naszego życia, nie jesteśmy panami czasu i nie wiemy,
kiedy on dla nas się skończy. Nie nam również wybierać
stosowny czas do relacji z Bogiem, gdyż to On daje nam
każdy czas i każdą minutę, aby w tym, co robimy, żyć
dla Niego. Wszystko, co dzieje się w naszym życiu, jest
skierowane ku wieczności. Mówiąc dosadnie: ku
wiecznemu szczęściu z Bogiem lub nieszczęściu bez
Niego. Im wcześniej to zrozumiemy, tym lepiej dla nas.
W innym miejscu św. Paweł pisze: „Sam Bóg pokoju
niech całkowicie uświęca was całych, aby nietknięty
duch wasz, dusza i ciało bez zarzutu zachowały się na
przyjście Pana naszego Jezusa Chrystusa”. Bóg dał nam
nie tylko duszę, ale i ciało. I o te dobra mamy dbać z
troskliwością. O ile można zadbać o duszę jakimś
kosztem ciała, o tyle odwrotna kolejność może przynieść
opłakane skutki. Dbanie o ciało kosztem duszy przynosi
skutki opłakane. Wcale nie daje prawdziwego
odpoczynku, a chwilowa regeneracja ma coraz krótszy
efekt.
Nasze życie zanurzone jest w wieczności. Tutaj, na
ziemi, uczymy się jej. Im wcześniej ku niej będziemy
skierowani, tym więcej prawdziwych owoców przyniesie
nasza codzienność. Jeśli DZISIAJ nie usłyszymy głosu
Boga, jeśli DZISIAJ nie ujrzymy Go w Jezusie
Chrystusie, w słowie Bożym, w stworzeniu, to być może,
gdy staniemy przed Nim po śmierci, nie rozpoznamy Go,
bo tak bardzo będzie nam obcy. Spotkanie z Nim będzie
zagrożeniem i powodem lęku. Skąd bowiem pewność, że
to do nas nie powie kiedyś: „Nie znam was”…
Każdy dzień może być przeżywany jako dar, jedyny w
swoim rodzaju. Może innych nie będzie… „Boże, Ty
Boże mój, Ciebie szukam; Ciebie pragnie moja dusza, za
Tobą tęskni moje ciało, jak ziemia zeschła, spragniona,
bez wody”. Czy te słowa wyrażają tęsknotę naszej duszy
i ciała za Bogiem? Nawet w czasie wakacji, w wolnym
czasie? Bóg odpoczął po ukończeniu stwarzania świata.
Nawet więcej: ten odpoczynek jest częścią aktu
stwórczego. Tak więc i odpoczynek wpisany jest w
drogę duchową. Ale odpoczynek w Jego obecności. W
oderwaniu od niej staje się jałowym działaniem,
kolejnym etapem w drodze donikąd…
