The Symposium of the International Centre of Electron Microscopy for Materials Science at the
AGH-UST & “3rd Stanisław Gorczyca Workshop on Electron Microscopy focused on alloys” is
organized within the project no POIG.02.01.00-12-016/08-00 (Programme on Innovative Economy
2007-2013, Priority Axis 2 - R&D infrastructure, Measure 2.1: Development of high research
potential centres of the Ministry for Science and Higher Education) and within the ESTEEM project
(Enabling
Science
and
Technology through
European
Electron
Microscopy;
http://esteem.ua.ac.be/), established within EU 6th Framework Programme.
The scientific programme of the Workshop consists of the lectures on basics, advanced techniques
and application of electron microscopy, electron holography and electron tomography given by
invited speakers and two contributions given by PhD students applying these techniques in their
research. The programme of Symposium includes a presentation about newly established
International Centre of Electron Microscopy for Materials Science at the AGH-UST, its research
activities, equipment and new possibilities of characterization of materials microstructures down to
a nano-scale. The development of new aberration corrected transmission electron microscopes
and their research capabilities are also provided.
Location
The Workshop and the Symposium will take place in Kraków (www.krakow.pl), at the AGH
University of Science and Technology, Al. Mickiewicza 30, 30-059 Kraków, International Centre of
Electron Microscopy for Materials Science, building A2, ground floor.
Language
The language of the Workshop and the Symposium is English.
Workshop fee
There is no fee, but pre-registration is essential. In general, the organizers do not cover
accommodation and travel costs.
For the ESTEEM members, accommodation from 18.05 to 20.05.2011 in hotel “Antica” is free of
charge (the accommodation should be booked at www.antica.jordan.pl before 31st March 2011).
