(1980); doktorat nauk humanistycznych (promotor: doc. dr hab. Andrzej Zgorzelski) – UG
(1989); habilitacja w zakresie literaturoznawstwa w UG w r. 2008.
Praca zawodowa: nauczyciel języka angielskiego w III LO w Gdyni (1979–1980),
bibliotekarz w Instytucie Anglistyki UG (1980–1981), od 1981 r. nauczyciel akademicki w
Instytucie Anglistyki UG.
Zainteresowania naukowe: literatura popularna, zwłaszcza kryminalna i fantastyczna, baśń
literacka, literatura dla dzieci, opowieści o zwierzętach; historia literatury, genologia,
literatura w perspektywie komunikacji.
Wybrane publikacje: Canon Unbound (Koszalin 2011; editor), Patterns of Enchantment: E.
Nesbit and the traditions of children’s literature (Gdańsk 2007); Instructive curiosity:
Suspense in C. S. Lewis’s Trilogy (Gdańsk 1995).
Prowadzi seminaria doktoranckie i magisterskie z literatury popularnej i dziecięcej oraz
wykłady i ćwiczenia z literatury brytyjskiej, a także współczesnej prozy brytyjskiej i
irlandzkiej.
Promotor w 3 otwartych przewodach doktorskich; wypromowała ok. 40 magistrów i ponad 80
licencjatów.

Education: MA in English Philology at the University of Gdansk in 1980; PhD in humanities
at the University of Gdansk in 1989; “habilitacja” in literary studies at the University of
Gdansk in 2008.
Professional experience: teacher of English in III LO in Gdynia (1979-80); librarian at the
English Institute of the University of Gdansk; since 1981 academic teacher at the English
Institute UG.
Research interests: popular literature, especially crime fiction and fantastic genres; fairy tale;
children’s literature, animal story; history of literature; genology; literature as communication.
