Stockbridge, MA on Saturday, April 26th. Pickup will be
at 8:00AM on Newkirk Avenue behind the church. Come
and spend the day with friends and parishioners. Call or

2014 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
This Sunday (March 30),

Annual Catholic Appeal.
Following a short presentation at each Mass, the ushers

The Easter Flower Offering envelopes are now available at the rear of the church. Please take one and take the
opportunity to commemorate a flower offering to a loved
one. Names of loved ones will be printed and included
within the church bulletin for Easter weekend. Please return your envelope by April 14th, so that we may have
time to include your loved one’s name.
LIGHT
“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ
will give you light” (Ephesians 5:14). We are at the
midpoint of our Lenten journey of conversion. As always,
God never gives up on us, especially those who have
“fallen asleep” along the road to conversion. The most
powerful stories of conversion are proclaimed during
these final weeks of Lent. They have the power to shake
us out of our sleep. Today’s Gospel story of the healing of
the man born blind exposes the real blindness in the time
of Christ - the blindness of the self-righteous religious
leaders. In a few weeks, at the Easter Vigil, the Church
will proclaim “Christ our Light” as the paschal candle is
carried into darkened churches throughout the world. May
the darkness of sin that still pervades our lives,
communities, and world, be dispelled by the Christ who
comes to bring sight to the blind and light to the world.

TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading - As the prophet Samuel anointed David

FEAST OF FAITH
The Second Reading
The Liturgy of the Word generally follows a consistent
pattern of three readings and a psalm. The second reading
is always taken from one of the New Testament epistles
or the book of Revelation, and generally is not
intentionally aligned with either the Gospel or the first
reading.
Where would we be without these letters in which
great saints and apostles like Paul, Peter, James, and John
share their wisdom and pastoral good sense with the early
Christian communities? It is in these letters, even more
than in the Gospel narratives, that we learn what it means
to be church: to live with each other, in the world yet not
of the world, in these days after the Lord’s resurrection.
Each New Testament letter was written by a particular
leader for a particular community at a particular time. We
are reminded of this at the beginning of the proclamation“A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians,”
or the Corinthians, or the Thessalonians. These texts were
shaped by their particular historical and cultural context,
but at the same time, through the liturgy, these letters are
written to us, here, today. They speak to the realities of
Christian living no matter where - or when - we live.
They are truly “the word of the Lord” for us.

sprawy Boże. Potrzeba nam pełnić dzieła Tego,
który Mnie posłał, dopóki jest dzień. Nadchodzi
noc, kiedy nikt nie będzie mógł działać. Jak długo
jestem na świecie, jestem światłością świata. To
powiedziawszy splunął na ziemię, uczynił błoto ze
śliny i nałożył je na oczy niewidomego, i rzekł do
niego: Idź, obmyj się w sadzawce Siloam - co się
tłumaczy: Posłany. On więc odszedł, obmył się i
wrócił widząc.(…). Jan 9, 1-41
W Ewangelii według św. Jana Jezus nie czyni
cudów, tylko znaki. To, co czyni, odsyła do
pełniejszej rzeczywistości - a więc chodzi bardziej
o nią niż o wzrok fizyczny uzdrawianego. Pan
mówi, że jest światłością, nakłada niewidomemu na
oczy błoto i każe się obmyć w sadzawce Siloe.
Znaki te odwołują się do stworzenia świata, gdy
najpierw była ciemność, potem, na słowo Boga,
stała się światłość; do stworzenia człowieka,
ulepionego z ziemi. W końcu do chrztu – Siloe
znaczy „posłany”, a to Chrystus jest posłany, a więc
tak jakby powiedział: „Obmyj się w Jezusie”. Dzieje
się to ósmego dnia, co oznacza dzień następny po
stworzeniu świata, ósmy dzień stworzenia, dzień
bez końca. Chrystus przez wiarę i chrzest stwarza
człowieka na nowo. Droga do Boga zaczyna się od

2014 CAMPAÑA CATÓLICA ANUAL
Este domingo (30 de marzo ), nuestra parroquia
comienza la Campaña Católica Anual de este año. Como
una gran familia católica, debemos compartir una
comprensión clara de nuestra participación en la vida de
la Iglesia aquí en la Diócesis de Brooklyn. Con esa
convicción en mente, les pedimos que reflexionen sobre
el tema de la Campaña Católica Anual de este año ,
Renovemos nuestra fe a través de actos de caridad .
Dando al llamamiento anual es un medio importante para
nosotros de servir como instrumentos de nuestro Señor ,
en nuestras casas, nuestros "nacionales" de la iglesia, y en
nuestras muchas parroquias vecinales, escuelas y
ministerios.
Nuestro objetivo, según determinado por la Diócesis,
es $26,616. Cualquier cantidad recibida más de esa
cantidad será devuelta a St. Rose.
Tras una breve presentación en cada Misa , los ujieres
repartirán la " in - pew " tarjetas de compromiso de
condiciones. Le pedimos que se tome a su hogar y en
oración reflexionar en hacer una donación a la apelación
en nombre de nuestra parroquia. Por favor devuelva las
cartas por correo directamente a la oficina de apelación
con "St. Rosa de Lima (Brooklyn)", escrito en el

La mesa de la Palabra
De la mesa de la palabra vamos a la mesa eucarística.
La Constitución sobre la Sagrada Liturgia tuvo eso en
mente de forma muy clara al pedir que: “A fin de que la
mesa de la palabra de Dios se prepare con más
abundancia para los fieles ábranse con mayor amplitud
los tesoros de la Biblia, de modo que, en un período
determinado de años, se lean al pueblo las partes más
significativas de la Sagrada Escritura”. Fue de esta
manera que no sólo se reorganizó un nuevo Leccionario
para la Iglesia Católica, sino que se le dio una importancia
aún mayor a la lectura de la Biblia, no sólo en el contexto
de la liturgia, sino en toda la vida de la Iglesia. Esta
reforma litúrgica hizo posible que la comunidad de
creyentes conociera los evangelios de Mateo, los de
Marcos, Lucas y Juan. En números claros, antes del
Concilio Vaticano II sólo se proclamaba el 5% del
Evangelio de Marcos y, del Antiguo Testamento, sólo se
proclamaban 258 versículos, de los 25,044 versículos que
lo componen, es decir, sólo el 1%. Un gran paso, sin
duda.

LUZ
“Despierta, tú que duermes; levántate de entre los
muertos y Cristo será tu luz” (Efesios 5:14). Estamos a
medio camino en la jornada de Cuaresma para la
conversión. Como siempre, Dios no se da por vencido con
nosotros, especialmente con aquellos que “duermen” en el
camino a la conversión. Los más grandes relatos de
conversión se proclaman en estas semanas finales de la
Cuaresma. Estos tienen el poder de sacudirnos de nuestro
sueño. El relato del Evangelio de hoy sobre la curación
del ciego de nacimiento expone la verdadera ceguera en
tiempos de Cristo –la ceguera de los líderes religiosos que
se creían muy buenos y justos. Dentro de pocas semanas,
en la Vigilia Pascual, la Iglesia proclamará a “Cristo
nuestra Luz” cuando el Cirio Pascual es llevado dentro de
las iglesias oscuras de todo el mundo. Que la oscuridad
del pecado que impregna nuestra vida, comunidades y
nuestro mundo sea disipada por Cristo quien viene
trayendo vista al ciego y luz al mundo.
