General Information about Turkey
• Population : 75,586,256.
70.5 % of the general
population live in the
cities.
• 35,376,533 of the
population are male and
35,209,723 are women.
• 66.5 % of the population
is between the age of 1564 and constitute the
working force of the
country. 26.4 % of the
population is between
the age of 0-14 and 7.1 %
is 65 and over.
Geographical Position
Geographical Position: the
actual surface area of
Turkey is 814.578 km². It
is situated between the
continents of Asia and
Europe. Syria, Iran, Iraq,
Armenia, Georgia,
Greece, Bulgaria and
Nakchvivan are its
neighbors.

CAREER PLANNING ACTIVITIES
IN TURKEY
• In Turkey number of students is very high.
• To reach all the students different career
interest inventories are used nation wide.
• Other application are school specific, not
nation wide.
• Schools are responsible for organizing
applications related to career planning
however they are free to use which
applications they will apply.

Career Interest Inventory:
Kariyer Eğilim Testi (KET ©)
Career Interest Inventory
(KET©) was created on the
basis of Dr. John Holland’s
RIASEC Model.
Career Interest Inventory:
According to this model there is a relation
between career choice and personal
characteristics and due this relationship six
career interests are described.

General Tendencies of Analysis
• Enterprising and Realistic personalities are more
dominant in male students than female students.
• Social and Artistic personalities, on the other hand, are
more dominant in female students than male students.
• Conventional personality type is slightly dominant in
female students than male students.
• Investigative personality type is similar between male
and female students and no significant difference is
available.
• The western parts of the Turkey have higher percentage
values for Artistic and Enterprising personality types than
eastern parts of the Turkey.

most favorite occupations.
• These occupations are actually related to
the university departments.
