Suggested intinerary for 3-day trip TRADITIONS OF THE CITY AND REGION - Urząd Miast

Day 1 - Częstochowa
-A visit at the Jasna Góra Monastery
and the Museum of Iron Ore Mining with underground corridors arranged to look like the original
ore mines, which still operated around Czestochowa several dozens years ago.
-A visit at the Zagroda Włościańska (an exhibition depicting the folk culture of the Czestochowa
area) and the Town Hall (i.e. a permanent historical exhibition ,,The History of Częstochowa”, a
possibility to see the panorama of Czestochowa from the observation tower).
-2:00 PM- dinner at a restaurant serving regional dishes - such as sour soup served in bread.
-A visit at the Archaeological Reserve - exploring the unique burial of the Lusatian culture. You
can see pots, bowls, jewelry, and other items of daily use that were found in the tombs.
-Back to the center of the city, stroll through the Holy Virgin Mary Avenue with a guide.
Day 2 - Miedźno – Mokra – Złoty Potok – Mirów – Bobolice
-A trip to Miedźno. A visit to the House of
Tradition and Remembrance in Mokra and Miedźno. Near the Mokra village one of the first
battles of the September campaign was fought. This event is commemorated by a monumental
statue from 1975. Ashes of the fallen soldiers are buried at the cemetery in Miedzno, in a mass
grave.

-A trip to the Krasinski Mansion in Złoty Potok – a permanent exhibition dedicated to one of the
great Polish Romantics - Zygmunt Krasinski and his family. A visit at the Raczynscy Palace .
-2:00 PM– 3:00 PM– lunch (local restaurants serve various trout dishes with trouts from the Old
Złoty Potok Trout Farm; in the summer a Trout Festival is held in Złoty Potok).
-A guided tour of the Trail of the Eagles' Nests – castles in Mirów and Bobolice, built during the
reign of Kazimierz the Great.
Day 3 - Żarki – Ogrodzieniec
-A trip to Żarki. A visit at the complex of 32 original
19 century brick granaries. In one of them during major holidays (such as Easter, May 3,
Corpus Christi) a Merchants Fair in Żarecka Stodoła is being held, with unique products and
regional souvenirs: sculptures, clay pots, ostrich eggs, painted eggshells, feathers. On the site
you can try e.g . the Tatarczuch bread, honey, cow and goat cheese.
-13:00 - lunch.
-A visit at the Ogrodzieniec Castle – the most impressive „Eagle's Nest”among all castles of
Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. The castle, located on the slope of the Janowski Mountain – the
highest point of the Upland (504 m.a.s.l.) - was built of hard limestone and dolomite and
survived the centuries as an impregnable fortress.
