LITURGY OF THE WORD
The first reading encourages us to keep our minds on
God, not on worldly concerns. In the second reading,
Paul sends Onesimus back to his owner Philemon,
with the hope that Philemon will take him back not as
a slave but as a brother. Today’s Gospel reminds us
that faithful discipleship requires taking up our cross
each day and following Jesus.
SAINT TERESA of CALCUTTA
Dear Saint Teresa of Calcutta, you joyfully fed the
hungry, rallied for the poor and unwanted, cared for
the sick and dying and sheltered the homeless. Let us
imitate your love and generosity by reaching out and
assisting our needy ones. We celebrate your
canonization and praise our Heavenly Father for the
honor of sainthood the Church as now bestowed upon
you. We thank Him for the beautiful example of love
He gave us through you. In your life, you showed us
how to follow Jesus by loving and serving others.
We pray that we can follow your generous ways.
Amen
QUOTES FROM MOTHER TERESA
“I think today the world is upside down, and is
suffering so much because there is so very little love
in the home, and in family life. We have no time for
our children, we have no time for each other, there is
no time to enjoy each other.”
“Love begins at home; love lives in homes, and that
is why there is so much suffering and so much
unhappiness in the world today… Everybody today
seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater
developments and greater riches and so on, so that
children have very little time for their parents.
Parents have very little time for each other, and in the
home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Some people come in your life as blessings.
Some come in your life as lessons.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to
be extraordinary. What we need is to love without
getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is
in them that your strength lies.”

Maryja, nie Bóg, ale Matka Boga
Punktem wyjścia jest prawda, że Maryja jest
matką Jezusa Chrystusa. Jest to prawda całkiem
oczywista. Jezus Chrystus będąc Bogiem, drugą
osobą Boską, poprzez fakt wcielenia (narodzenia)
stał się jednym z nas, człowiekiem, narodzonym z
matki Maryi. Maryja jest więc matką Jezusa
Chrystusa. Chrystus natomiast jest Bogiem i
człowiekiem w jednej osobie, a jest to druga Osoba
Boska. Maryja, dając mu ludzką naturę stała się więc
matką tej osoby Boskiej, a więc matką Boga.
Prawdę tę, w teologii zwaną Bożym
macierzyństwem, podkreślił w 431 r. jeden z
pierwszych soborów Kościoła w Efezie. Pismo św.
zdaje się potwierdzać to przekonanie o Boskim
macierzyństwie Maryi w opisie zwiastowania
Pańskiego, kiedy jej krewna Elżbieta natchniona
Duchem Świętym, mówi: A skądże mi to, że Matka
mojego Pana przychodzi do mnie (Łk 1,44). Za tym
macierzyństwem przemawia również wczesna
tradycja Kościoła stosując już od trzeciego wieku
wezwanie modlitewne: Pod twoją obronę uciekamy
się święta Boża Rodzicielko.
Fakt Bożego macierzyństwa jest punktem
wyjścia wszystkich innych przywilejów Maryi, co
pozwala czcić ją w sposób szczególny w Kościele.
Otóż Maryja ukazywana jest w roli Matki Kościoła.
Za podstawę tego przekonania mają posłużyć słowa
Jezusa wypowiedziane z krzyża w stosunku do Jana
i w obecności Maryi: Niewiasto, oto syn twój.
Następnie do ucznia: Oto matka twoja (J 19,26-27);
z tymże w Janie każą widzieć każdego członka
Kościoła. Sam fakt zrodzenia Syna Bożego, źródła
odkupienia ludzkości, czyni Maryję pośrednio
również matką Jego owocu zbawczego, a więc
Mistycznego Ciała Chrystusa, jakim jest właśnie
Kościół.
Maryja jako Matka Kościoła jest tym samym
matką wszystkich odkupionych. My jako ochrzczeni
możemy więc w Niej widzieć naszą własną matkę
duchową i pośredniczkę, matkę naszej wiary.
Rodząc Dawcę Łaski stała się Matką wszystkich
tych, którzy z tej łaski korzystają, czyli również
każdego z nas.
