SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM:
Baptism is celebrated each Sunday immediately after the
11:45 Mass. Registration and Parental instruction are required
before Baptism. Please call the Rectory for an appointment
several weeks before the desired date.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE:
Marriages are to be arranged at least six months in advance,
and prior to any social arrangements. Pre-Cana Conferences
required. Schedule is given during the first appointment with
the priest.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK & VISITATION OF THE SICK:
Please call the rectory to arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick
and Communion to be brought to the sick and shut- ins.

Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
In the month of June,
before the final blessing during the
weekend Masses, we will pray the
Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day
As we continue this Jubilee Year of Mercy, today’s
readings proclaim the remarkable mercy and forgiveness of God. As we gather every Sunday, we pray a
Penitential Act that also proclaims God’s mercy and
forgiveness. Let us turn to this merciful God with all
our hearts now, and with gratitude pray to show such
mercy to everyone else we meet.
HOPE AND FORGIVENESS
There were some interesting conceptions of
sin prevalent in the time of the Hebrew scriptures.
There was the belief that God punished sin immediately. Those who suffered disease or misfortune were,
therefore, sinners getting their due from the
Almighty.
Today’s first reading hints at another kind of
God. When David admits his sin, Nathan declares,
“The LORD on his part has forgiven your sin” Here
was not a vengeful God but a merciful God. What
good news that must have been to David and those
who, like him, could be honest enough to admit their
sinfulness!
Jesus is the good news of God’s mercy and
forgiveness incarnate. Without Jesus, perhaps the
good news would have been too good to believe, too
difficult to imagine. But there he is in today’s Gospel,
the God-man, forgiving a sinner and declaring that
she is forgiven because of her great love.
There is hope, then, for the rest of us sinners, if
only we love enough!
