THE BABY BOTTLE PROJECT
Beginning on January 22nd, our church will be participating in The Baby Bottle Project benefiting The
Women’s Centers of Greater Chicagoland. This nonprofit organization directly assists mothers and families
experiencing crisis pregnancies by offering emotional,
financial, material, and spiritual support through counseling, clothing & monetary provisions, prayer, and other
aid. Each year the three locations together have over 5,000 appointments with expecting mothers. By God’s Grace, The Women’s Centers have saved over 40,000 babies—and their mothers—from abortion since opening in 1984. Please take a Baby Bottle home with you
from the church on January 22nd, fill it with your spare change, and
return it the weekend of February 12th.This is a simple, but crucial
fundraising effort for The Women’s Centers. Please note the Baby
Bottles cost almost $1.00 per bottle and are recycled afterwards so
please return upon completion of the project.

to keep all pro-life undertakings in your prayers.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
So the NFL season is almost over. Only the Super Bowl remains. For some fans, the season is already over since their team is
now sitting at home. It is amazing the allegiance some people have to their teams. Some people bleed Green Bay green and yellow or believe the only team is supposedly America's team, the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, if you are reading this outside the
States, perhaps you live and breathe a team like the New Zealand All Blacks or the Calgary Flames.
In the early church, people took their allegiance to certain leaders to an extreme. Paul chastised them for thinking that the baptism of one community or the teachings of a certain leader were superior to the anything else in this new movement of Jesus
followers. He reminded them that there is to be no division in Christ and that all things flow from Christ, not from the leaders in
the community. Those who follow Jesus are one body of Christ: a place where there is no room for competition or condescension.
Sometime our stewardship efforts in a parish become all about the parish. We seek to get people to do more stuff and give more
money and we lose sight of why we live a stewardship way of life in the first place: Jesus. It is wonderful to watch our parishes
grow into more vibrant communities that lead people to Jesus. We should rejoice to be in such a parish family. But one day there
will be no parishes and those who have received his gifts freely and have followed him will live with Christ as one forever. In
your stewardship, always keep Jesus as the main thing.
WHY DO WE DO THAT? - CATHOLIC TRADITIONS EXPLAINED
Question:
January 25 is the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul and the end of the Week of Prayer
for Christian Unity. What does one have to do with the other?
Answer:
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity consists of eight days beginning January 18
(the previous date for the feast of the Chair of St. Peter) and ending on January 25, the
feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. The celebration was begun by Paul James Wattson,
a former Episcopalian priest who eventually became a Catholic priest. Suggestions for
prayer and education for the week are distributed each year at geii.org, emphasizing a
jointly chosen theme. The 1964 Vatican II document on ecumenism, "Unitatis Redintegratio," gave a great boost to the octave, so that today many Christians worldwide
promote and participate in the octave time of prayer. The emphasis on both Peter and Paul aptly fits into the rationale of the
octave. Peter is seen as the source of unity within the Christian tradition; Paul is highlighted due to his vision of bringing all to
Christ. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an ideal opportunity to pray for and promote respect, understanding, and,
hopefully, eventual unity among Christians.

3rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
"He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him." Peter, Andrew, James, and John's lives
would never be the same. They were going about their usual business--fishing on the Sea of Galilee--when Jesus approached
them and said, "Come after me." And that's just what they did. "At once they left their nets and followed him." Such a quick response to such a radical request!
What compelled these men to leave their livelihood to follow the Lord? His promise to them was that he would make them
"fishers of men." Perhaps they thought that promise sounded fabulous. But it seems more likely that it was Christ himself who
drew the men. There must have been something utterly attractive about him, and completely trustworthy. Otherwise, it seems
unbelievable that these men would have been so quick to respond to his call.
This compelling man is the same Christ who calls us. We hear his voice in a different way, of course, through the Church and
through the Bible, through his Spirit in our hearts, but it is nonetheless the same Jesus of Nazareth who asks us to follow him.
Have we allowed ourselves to be drawn by his voice? Are we open to a real encounter with the Lord who changes lives?
If our relationship with Jesus does not transform us, if it does not change us into different, better people moment by moment
and day by day, then chances are that we are not truly encountering him. He is too powerful to be inconsequential. It might take
some courage and commitment to come into authentic contact with the Lord, but when we do, our lives will never be the same.

St. William School will be hosting “Restaurant Night” at Bakers Square, 3649 Harlem, on Tuesday, January 24 th from

Centrum Kobiet. Napełnione pieniążkami buteleczki prosimy zwrócić do 12 lutego. Centrum Kobiet (The
Women’s Center) jest organizacją która pomaga kobietom w ciąży, będących w trudnej sytuacji finansowej.
Centrum Kobiet służy doradą, pomocą i modlitwą. Przeciętnie w ciągu roku, otrzymuje pomoc ponad pięć
tysięcy kobiet. Pomoc ta, to niezbędne rzeczy dla młodego dziecka jak: mleko, pieluchy, krzesełka do
samochodu, wózki itp. Codziennie odprawiana jest Msza Św. O godz. 12:00 w południe oraz odmawiany

Alberta w okresie od 25 grudnia
2016 r do 25 grudnia 2017 r.
Św. Brat Albert zmarł w Krakowie 25 grudnia 1916
roku. Obchody Roku św. Brata Alberta rozpoczeły się
Mszą św. w Katedrze na Wawelu w dniu 25 grudnia 2016
o g. 10-tej pod przewodnictwem Kard. Stanisława Dziwisza. Odbędzie się też wiele innych wydarzeń - zachęcamy do zajrzenia na stronę Sióstr Albertynek oraz
do artykułu na stronie Konferencji Episkopatu Polski.Tam również można zapoznać się z listem pasterskim biskupów polskich na rok św. Brata Alberta. Polecamy także przeczytanie wzruszającego opisu ostatnich
dni życia Brata Alberta z książki ks. Lewandowskiego
umieszczonego na stronie ss. Albertynek.
W programie publicystycznym Polskiej Telewizji pojawił
się Żyd, młody człowiek z Izraela, który stracił ojca w
zamachu terrorystycznym,spowodowanym przez
islamskich fanatyków. W tym czasie,kiedy wadził się z
Bogiem nad swoją utratą, podszedł do niego lekarz który
zapytał, czy pozwoli aby organy jego nieżyjącego ojca
przeszczepić chorej Arabce.
-Zgodziłem się bez wahania.
-Dlaczego?
-Bo tak zawsze uczył mnie mój ojciec. Najpierw jest
człowiek,a dopiero potem Żyd, Arab.
Zapytany, czy wróci do Izraela odpowiedział bez krzty
patosu:
-Tak, bo to jest moja ojczyzna,tam żyje moja
matka, siostra i tam spoczywa mój ojciec, który nauczył
mnie miłości do ojczyzny i ludzi. Wszystkich ludzi.

ADAM CHMIELOWSKI – ŚW. BRAT ALBERT: powstaniec, malarz, święty opiekun ubogich. Kim był św. Brat Albert, cóż niezwykłego było w
tym niepozornym „szarym mnichu”, którego klasztorem stał się świat materialnej i moralnej nędzy? Czym zasłużył sobie na miano, którym
określali go współcześni: „Najpiękniejszy człowiek swojego pokolenia”? Adam Chmielowski, bo tak brzmi jego świeckie imię i nazwisko,
przyszedł na świat 20 sierpnia1845 r. w Igołomi pod Krakowem. Pochodził z rodziny zubożałej szlachty. Wcześniej stracił obojga rodziców –
ojca, gdy miał 8 lat a matkę, gdy miał 14. Z domu rodzinnego wyniósł solidne podstawy życia religijnego oraz gorący patriotyzm. Na tyle
silny, że w siedemnastym roku życia jako jeden z pierwszych zaciągnął się w szeregi powstania styczniowego. W bitwie pod Mełchowem 30
września 1863 r. został ciężko ranny w skutek czego amputowano mu nogę. Dozgonnie naznaczony został stygmatem miłości Ojczyzny.
Po klęsce powstania musiał udać się na emigrację. Był to czas, kiedy zwrócił się w kierunku sztuki. W latach 1870-1874 podejmuje
systematyczne kształcenie w Akadami Sztuk Pięknych w Monachium. Maluje pierwsze obrazy i rozpoczyna artystyczną karierę. Znawcy
przedmiotu zaliczają go do prekursorów polskiego impresjonizmu. Chmielowski uważał, że sztuka nie stanowi wartości samej w sobie, lecz
powinna służyć wartościom wyższym, z których na pierwszym miejscu stawiał wartości religijne. Pragnął „sztukę i talent i myśli Bogu na
chwałę poświęcić”. W tym celu porzuca świat i wstępuje do nowicjatu oo. jezuitów. Po kilkumiesięcznym pobycie w zakonie odkrył, że Pan
Bóg przewidział dla niego inną drogę powołania i misji. Zwraca się w kierunku pogodnej duchowości św. Franciszka z Asyżu oraz jego idei
Trzeciego zakonu dla świeckich. Stał się Patronem i Orędownikiem ludzi ubogich, wydziedziczonych, zepchniętych na „egzystencjalne peryferia”. Spotkanie z nędzą ogrzewalni miejskiej na krakowskim Kazimierzu, z nieludzkimi warunkami, w jakich przebywał tam tłum nędzarzy,
poruszyło go dogłębnie. Postanowił, że ludzi tych w tak przerażającym położeniu nie pozostawi samych sobie i zdecydował się nimi
zamieszkać. Wkrótce objął zarząd nad miejską ogrzewalnią i przekształcił ją w przytulisko, gdzie każdy potrzebujący mógł znaleźć pożywienie, dach nad głową a przede wszystkim miłosierne serce. Chcąc w pełni realizować swą misję, 25 sierpnia 1887 r. przywdział habit Trzeciego
zakonu św. Franciszka, od tego też czasu zaczął posługiwać się nowym imieniem: Brat Albert. Rok później złożył śluby zakonne.
Aby sprostać tak wymagającemu zadaniu, jakim była opieka nad rzeszą ubogich, Brat Albert potrzebował współpracowników. Tak powstała
nowa wspólnota zakonna nazwana przez Założyciela Braćmi Posługującymi Ubogim Trzeciego Zakonu św. Franciszka, popularnie zwana
albertynami. Za umowną datę powstania zgromadzenia przyjęto rok 1888. Trzy lata później, w dniu 15 stycznia 1891 r. habit zakonny przybrały pierwsze Siostry Posługujące Ubogim – siostry albertynki, które podjęły się opieki nad ubogimi kobietami.
Istnienie obu zgromadzeń Brat Albert oparł na zasadzie ewangelicznego ubóstwa. Ojciec ubogich nie chciał posiadać niczego na własność,
ani osobiście, ani wspólnotowo. Był przy tym spokojny o rozwój swoich dzieł, ponieważ bez zastrzeżeń ufał Bożej Opatrzności. Inną istotną
zasadą jaką Brat Albert pozostawił swoim naśladowcom była zasada służby wobec tych, którym nikt inny nie chciał lub nie był w stanie usłużyć. Przytuliska stały się domami, gdzie ludzie bezdomni, nędzarze, niedołężni, żebracy, wyrobnicy bez zajęcia znajdą ratunek w swych
ostatecznych potrzebach, a w dalszym celu mogą uzyskać poprawę stanu materialnego przez dobrowolną pracę zarobkową[7]. Przy tym, w
swojej posłudze kierował się Brat Albert zasadą powszechności. Święty Paweł, jak słyszeliśmy w dzisiejszej lekcji, uważa się za powołanego,
by „pozyskiwać wszystkich pogan dla posłuszeństwa wierze” (Rz 1,5). Brat Albert również przyjmuje do swoich przytulisk każdego ubogiego
bez względu na narodowość, wyznanie lub pochodzenie.
