COURSE DESCRIPTION Code: in winter’s semester 5-a AW5007 5-b AW5008 INTERIOR DESIGN full-time 1st degree (BSc) Field and type of study: INTERIOR DESIGN 1 Course name: Details: Category: mandatory 10 ECTS points: Unit/Department running the course: Number of hours in semester: L– THE DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR DESIGN T– Lb– W– P – 60 S– The Aim of the Subject: To develop the knowledge and awareness of ergonomics and creative approaches working on a particular interior with a specific function and ambience. To develop a design with strong conceptual basis and attention to visual and functional aspects of the site (building etc.). Focus in placed on the way a user reads and interacts with an interior. Design at various scales (small objects versus larger schemes). The Scope of the Subject: To design a commercial space: an office with a focus on customer services function. Projects include suggested furniture/ appliance arrangements and/or students’ own design furniture schemes. Certain emphasis is placed on the design of details. Subject: 5-a an interior design project of an executive office and a conference room. 5-b an interior design project of an entrance area of a commercial/office building. Delivery: Individual tutorials. Requirements: plans and sections, perspective drawings, colour schemes and suggested illumination. To explain and exemplify various basic technologies and materials which can be used in product design. The Scope of the Subject: The theoretical part of the module aims at comparative and contrastive comparisons between historical and more contemporary styles. The practical part of the module encourages students to experiment with various styles and technologies, and focuses on practice in workshops. Subject: Short design tasks. Students focus on line weight, shadow and contrast. To develop composition skills. Drawing techniques vary and include ink and paint drawings.
