Osobami badanymi byli studenci w Polsce i we Francji (n=219). Abstract SEXUAL HEALTH KNOWLEDGE OF POLISH AND FRENCH STUDENTS Sexual health is an important component of the overall life quality. WHO defined sexual health as a state of physical, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality (WHO, 2001). Sexual education and prevention have to face the fact that about 25% cases of Sexual Transmitted Diseases concern people aged 15-24 (Izdebski, 2006; Crosby, Danner, 2008). Education based on the analysis of the recipients’ knowledge can be most effective of all sexual and reproductive health strategies. The central aim of this study was to identify the level of sexual health knowledge and sexual information sources of Polish and French students. This study investigated the potential differences between students in Poland and France. The applied method was a self-administrated questionnaire to evaluate sexual health knowledge and sexual information sources. The Questionnaire, based on the study of Izdebski (2006) and the conception of sexual health defined by the World Health Organization has been developed and modified for the needs of the research. The participants were the students at the Pierre Mendès France University of Grenoble and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (n=219). The findings demonstrate the diversification of HIV/AIDS knowledge and sexual information sources among French and Polish students. The calculations show that the level of the HIV/AIDS knowledge is lower in a French group in comparison with Polish students. Additionally the groups differ on the issue of the main source of knowledge, taking into consideration mothers, teachers or the media and literature. In both groups the most common source of information about sexuality are students colleagues. Those findings can be useful in effective sexual education.
