Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain, but by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes; not by making your path easy, but by making you sturdy to travel any path; not by taking hardships from you, but by taking fear from your heart; not by granting you unbroken sunshine, but by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows; not by making your life always pleasant, but by showing you when people and their causes need you most, and by making you anxious to be there to help. Dear Friends who enjoy the casino trips, The Casino & bus company have decided that an email address will be required by everyone who wants to ride the free bus. The good part of this is you will receive coupons for free things. We have argued with them but they will not change their minds. obody can ride the free bus without an email address. Husband & Wife need separate email addresses. We would like to plan a trip to Horseshoe Casino on Thursday, February 12. This will give everyone enough time to set up email addresses (which are free with Yahoo). Ask grandchildren, children or go to the local library for help to set up an account. The sign up form will be in a future bulletin. Even though it is annoying to do this each time, the registration form must be filled out entirely every time, before you turn it in. We do not take late registrations or registrations by phone. HOT TOPICS Please mark your calendars for the fourth in a series of six Hot Topics discussions. We hope you can join! Tuesday, January 13, 2015 @ 7:00 PM Topic: What’s So Important about Islam? Why Do We Care? Presented by: Esther Hicks Hosting Parish: St. William Church About the Topic: We live in a pluralistic society that is evident in every neighborhood in the Chicagoland area. Go to a grocery store or a theater and you can see people wearing different religious symbols from tattoos of Guadalupe to Hijabs to Kippahs to whatever! These signs highlight cultural and religious distinctions and they sometimes hide what binds us together as a single human community. This presentation has us look at Islam, one of the great Abrahamic religions of the biblical belief in the One God. We’ll look at some of the beliefs, customs and cultures that are all subsumed under the title of the Islamic Faith. And we’ll discuss your questions about why we should care about anyone else’s faith – particularly the faith to which nearly a billion people adhere. About the Speaker: Esther Hicks is the Director of Catholic Identity and Mission for the Office of Catholic Schools. Esther currently works in the Archdiocese of Chicago as a member of the Catholic School Identity and Mission Team. She assists principals and teachers in the catechetical certification process in the Archdiocese. Esther is the chief writer of the Archdiocese of Chicago Religious Curriculum currently being implemented in schools and parishes of the archdiocese. As part of the mission aspect of her work, Esther works with the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Nigeria as a technical assistant to Bishop Godfrey Onah. She is a founding member and current president of the Chicago Coalition for InterReligious Learning an organization of Jewish, Catholic and Muslim educators whose purpose is the promotion of knowledge and respect for the Abrahamic faiths. A small reception will follow discussion! Meraz Dear Parishioners, Drodzy Parafianie, It feels strange to be writing this after only six months being here with you at Saint William Parish, but the time to say Goodbye has come. I am very grateful for all that I have experienced and learned here among you. I have felt immense support and love from you. I hope I have been able to return that love somehow. I want you to know that I will be holding each of you in my heart, and you can be assured of my prayers. This is a wonderful Parish with such goodness and generosity and I will miss you all. Today I have to say Goodbye to you. It is not easy for me at all, but I believe that God has plans for all of us. I enjoyed so much being your associate pastor. All of you, parishioners and children in School and Religious Education have given me a great opportunity to serve God and you joyfully, and I ask God’s and your forgiveness if I have hurt you or caused pain or sorrow in any way. I can honestly say it was never done intentionally. So, where am I going? Our Archbishop Blase J. Cupich has appointed me to be administrator of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Streamwood. I will begin this new assignment on Monday, Jan. 12. You're always welcome to stop by and say hello to me if you happen to be in Streamwood. I ask your prayers and I promise to remember all of you in my prayers and at the altar during Mass. I will keep you in my heart and I wish you and my good friend Fr. Robert, with the entire staff every blessing in the future. In Jesus and His Mother Mary, Fr. Gregg Czuję się dziwnie pisząc te słowa w zaledwie sześć miesięcy odkąd tutaj z wami jestem w parafii św.
