About the event Eastern and Baltic Markets Forum organized by Warmia and Mazury Regional Development Agency JSC in Olsztyn for the fifth time becomes one of the most important international economic events in Eastern Poland which attracts almost 200 representatives of business, public administration and the authorities. The aim of the Forum is to create conditions for common debate and intensification of cross-border cooperation of entrepreneurs from the EU member states and countries outside the EU, taking into account also the role which public administration can play in this process. The Forum is dedicated to entrepreneurs, Polish and foreign investors, business environment institutions, entities interested in investment and establishing economic cooperation with the region as well as self-government units from warminsko-mazurskie voivodship. Also the representatives of opinion-forming and sectorial environment were invited to participate in the event. Last year edition of the Forum attracted over 150 participants. Among our guests were representatives of foreign enterprises from: Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazachstan, entrepreneurs from Warmia and Mazury and over 30 representatives of local government units, who participated in conferences, seminars and matchmaking session B2B. During the Forum there was a presentation of investment offers of Polish Business Environment Institutions such as Warmińsko-Mazurska Special Economic Zone, Suwałki Special Economic Zone subzone in Ełk and Gołdap, Military Property Agency Department in Olsztyn, Warmia and Mazury Investor Service Centre - Certified Partner PAIiIZ 2010-2013 (WMRDA in Olsztyn) and municipalities from Warmia and Mazury which are taking part in the project Special Investment Care (SIC). Economic potential of Warmia and Mazury Warmińsko-mazurskie voivodship, located in the north-east part of Poland, combines tourist and investment attractiveness. Due to its natural values it is considered to be one of the most beautiful Polish regions. Warmia and Mazury has over 24 thousand square kilometers, there are 116 communes and 19 counties inhabited by about 1,5 million people. The capital of the region is Olsztyn which has over 170 thousand citizens. Because of huge areas, dynamically develops production in such sectors as: wood and furniture, food (ecological and technical farming, food production) as well as nautical, tourist, renewable energy sources. Warmia and Mazury after hours Warmia and Mazury apart from investment attractiveness offers also perfect conditions for recreation. It is a region called a “Land of a thousand lakes”, although in reality there are over twice as many lakes, apart from that there many landscape parks, nature reserves, forests which encourage sailing, canoeing, horse riding, cycling. The beauty of natural landscape is complemented by the work of human hands: the well-preserved Gothic castles, churches and palaces. From the list of “100 remarkable Polish monuments” 16 are located in Warmia and Mazury. Due to those tourist attractions, the region is visited by 5 mln tourists every year and every fifth of them comes from abroad. The city, in the past being an administrative, economic and cultural centre of the region, is known for many monuments of architecture and friendly for tourists and investors, the tradition meets modernity here. Tourist attractions: 1. the Castle of the Bishops of Warmia - on the eastern side of Lidzbark Warmiński, is the Castle of the Bishops of Warmia, one of the most precious Medieval monuments erected at the turn of 14th and 15th centuries, which towers over the tree-covered morainic hills. 2. Wysoka Brama – out of three gates to the town, till today remained only one, called a “High Gate” (Wysoka Brama), where barbican used to be situates in the past. 3. Fortification and urbanistic design – built in the Middle of 14th century. From the north massive fortification was built with towers and dry moat which remained till the present day. 6.
