ABOUT LOCATION
The seat of Bukowiańskie Centrum Kultury (Bukowina Culture Centre) in Bukowina Tatrzańska is one of the biggest wooden
buildings in Poland (the total area of 1458m2). It was built in the Zakopane style on the plan of an elongated rectangle
crossed with two transepts. Inside leads a richly decorated door frame. In the main lobby, lit with painted glass lanterns, there
are portraits of the presidents of Dom Ludowy and local highlanders who rendered great service to Bukowina Tatrzańska. In
the main part of the building, on the ground floor there is a theatre with 200 seats, stage, two dressing rooms, and a gallery.
On the ground floor there are also Bukowina School of Vanishing Trades, Folklore and Folk Arts (Bukowiańska Szkoła Ginących
Zawodów, Folkloru i Sztuki Ludowej) with studios of painting on glass, pottery and woodcarving, and “Świetlica” – a room
where local cultural events and folk art exhibition take place. On the lowest level, there is a smithy and a room with a ceramic
furnace.
Dom Ludowy is the cultural centre of the village and the whole Bukowina commune.
