Presenting the history of general architecture against the background of historic and geographic determinants. Elements of art history. Presenting stylistic, material and constructional changes in architecture. Course contents Beginnings of interests in antiquity. Great ancient cultures – Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome. Early Christian architecture. Building constructions in the Middle Ages. Romanesque. Gothic. Architecture of Islam. Renaissance and mannerism. Art of baroque and rococo. European classicism. Architecture of 19th and 20th centuries. The history of architecture in Asia, Africa and America. Development of architecture in Poland. Form and method of getting credits, basic criterions of assessment or examination requirements A. Method of getting credits • examination • credit with a grade* * mark the appropriate B.
