Benefit Banquet and Silent Auction
Parishioners, alumni, parents of
school children and friends of St.
Mary of Czestochowa School are invited to
give their support to the Benefit Dinner Banquet and Silent Auction to be held on Friday,
October 6, 2006 at the Skylite West Banquet
Hall located at 7117 West Ogden Ave., Berwyn, IL. This evening is being planned to honor
the legacy of Bishop Aloysius Wcislo who
graduated from our school in the late 1920’s as
well as to support the development and financial health of our parish school. Tickets are
selling for $55 per person (Cash bar) and are
available for purchase after all Masses this
weekend. Tickets can also be purchased in the
school office during school hours – 9:00am to
2:30pm. Checks should be written to St. Mary
of Czestochowa School. Only 200 tickets will
be sold for this event. A donation of prizes for
the Silent Auction will also be appreciated. We
hope to meet many of our former graduates,
parents, parishioners and friends at our celebration. Bishop Morneau of Green Bay Wisconsin will be the keynote speaker for the evening.
IMPORTANT MEETING
On Thursday, September
21, 2006 there will be an
important meeting held at
7PM in Makuch Hall for the
Parish Pastoral Council, the
Finance Council and the School Board. All interested and concerned parishioners are invited
to join in this meeting . The Annual Financial
Report of our parish will be presented to all who
are present.. Please come...your willingness to
help to bring new ideas to increase our parish
revenue will be most welcome.
There will be a Neighborhood Watch meeting on Tuesday, September 19th at the St. Mary’s Social Center.
The meeting will begin at 6:30pm. Concerns and issues
concerning our area should be brought to the meeting.

ENGLISH SPEAKING RCIA/ADULT SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION PROGRAMS at St. Odilo Catholic Church (2244 East Ave.
Berwyn) (4l482161) will be held on Tuesdays from 7:30pm-9pm in
the Pine Room (Lower Level of the Rectory). The meetings dates

order to participate in the RCIA/Adult Sacramental Preparation
Programs:
1. The candidate agrees not to miss more than 3 classes.
2. The candidate will work with the Pastor to assess any marriage/annulment issues that might exist.
3. The Candidate is over the age of 18 .
4. The Candidate will attend weekly Mass at his/her own home
parish.
Religious Education
This weekend we celebrate Catechetical Sunday, and this year’s theme is
“Who do you say that I am?” The
words are aken from both the Old and
the New Testament recording
the ;moment God reveals Himself to His people. We
take this opportunity to honor the catechists in our
Religious Education Program who will continue to
bring the scripture message to our young people:

Mark 8:27-35
Jesus and his disciples set out for the
villages of Caesarea Philippi.
Along the way he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that I am?”
They said in reply, “John the Baptist,
others Elijah, still others one of the prophets.” And he
asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said to
him in reply, “You are the Christ.” Then he warned them
not to tell anyone about him. He began to teach them that
the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the
elders, the chief priests, and the scribes ,and be killed,
and rise after three days. He spoke this openly. Then
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. At this he
turned around and, looking at his disciples ,rebuked Peter
and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as
God does, but as human beings do. ”He summoned the
crowd with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever
wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his
cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life
will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that
of the gospel will save it.”
We demonstrate our faith with our stewardship. Good
stewards spend time with God, share talent in ministry
and give treasure to support the work of God here on
earth. This is how we demonstrate our faith..

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place
in our parish church every Wednesday from
8:30am until 7pm. If you would like to sign-up for
a specific time to worship before the Blessed
Sacrament during the time of exposition, you
are invited to sign your name on the board that is
located in the vestibule of our church for this purpose.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos se dirigieron a
las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo; por el camino preguntó a
sus discípulos: ¿Quién dice la gente soy yo? Ellos le
contestaron: Unos, Juan Bautista: otros, Elías, y otros,
uno de los profetas. Él les preguntó: Y vosotros, ¿quién
decís que soy? Pedro le contestó: Tú eres el Mesías. Él
les prohibió terminantemente decírselo a nadie. Y empezó a instruirles: El Hijo del Hombre tiene que padecer
mucho, tiene que ser condenado por los senadores, sumos sacerdotes y letrados, ser ejecutado y resucitar a los
tres días. Se lo explicaba con toda claridad. Entonces
Pedro se le llevó aparte y se puso a increparle. Jesús se
volvió, y de cara a los discípulos increpó a Pedro:
¡Quítate de mi vista, Satanás! ¡Tú piensas como los hombres, no como Dios! Después llamó a la gente y a sus
discípulos y les dijo: El que quiera venirse conmigo, que
se niegue a sí mismo, que cargue con su cruz y me siga.
Mirad, el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el
que pierda su vida por el Evangelio, la salvará.

REUNIÓN IMPORTANTE
El jueves, 21 de septiembre de 2006 habrá una
reunión importante a horas 7PM en Makuch
Hall para el Consejo Pastoral de la parroquia,
el Consejo de las Finanzas y el Comité de la
Escuela. Se invita también a los feligreses,

La Educación Católica
Este fin de semana celebramos el Domingo de Catequista. El tema de este año es “Quién usted dice que
soy yo?” Las palabras son tomadas del Antiguo y
Nuevo Testamento recordando el momento en que
Dios se reveló a su gente. Aprovechando este acontecimiento queremos agradecer y subrayar el servicio de nuestros catequistas quienes transmiten el
mensaje de la Buena Nueva a los niños y jóvenes:

Potem Jezus udał się ze swoimi uczniami do
wiosek pod Cezareą Filipową. W drodze pytał
uczniów: Za kogo uważają Mnie ludzie? Oni
Mu odpowiedzieli: Za Jana Chrzciciela, inni
za Eliasza, jeszcze inni za jednego z proroków. On ich zapytał: A wy za kogo mnie
uważacie? Odpowiedział Mu Piotr: Ty jesteś
Mesjasz. Wtedy surowo im przykazał, żeby
nikomu o Nim nie mówili. I zaczął ich pouczać, że Syn Człowieczy musi wiele cierpieć, że będzie odrzucony przez starszych,
arcykapłanów i uczonych w Piśmie; że będzie
zabity, ale po trzech dniach zmartwychwstanie. A mówił zupełnie otwarcie te słowa.
Wtedy Piotr wziął Go na bok i zaczął Go upominać. Lecz On obrócił się i patrząc na swych
uczniów, zgromił Piotra słowami: Zejdź Mi z
oczu, szatanie, bo nie myślisz o tym, co Boże,
ale o tym, co ludzkie. Potem przywołał do
siebie tłum razem ze swoimi uczniami i rzekł
im: Jeśli kto chce pójść za Mną, niech się zaprze samego siebie, niech weźmie krzyż swój
i niech Mnie naśladuje! Bo kto chce zachować swoje życie, straci je; a kto straci swe
życie z powodu Mnie i Ewangelii, zachowa
je.

- 21 września Nieciekawie zapowiadał się żywot św.
Mateusza. Mateusz był przecież urzędnikiem państwowym, wysługującym się
okupantowi rzymskiemu. Poborców
podatkowych nigdy nie darzono sympatią, cóż dopiero wysługującym się wrogom ojczyzny. Nadto ówczesny system podatkowy dawał
celnikom okazję do wielu nadużyć. Nie dziw, że ich nienawidzono i powszechnie nimi gardzono.
Ze św. Mateuszem spotykamy się po raz pierwszy w Kafarnaum, kiedy zastał go Chrystus na cle i powołał go na
Apostoła. Fakt ten miał miejsce po cudownym uzdrowieniu paralityka, którego spuszczono przez otwór zrobiony
w suficie mieszkania (Mt 9,1-8). O tym udzie musiał dowiedzieć się Mateusz, gdyż wieść o nim rozniosły tysięczne usta.
O swoim nawróceniu tak pisze sam Mateusz: „ Jezus ujrzał człowieka siedzącego w komorze celnej imieniem
Mateusz, i rzekł do niego: „Pójdź za Mną!” – On wstał i
poszedł za nim. Gdy Jezus siedział w domu za stołem,
przyszło wielu celników i grzeszników, i siedzieli z Jezusem i Jego uczniami. Widząc to, faryzeusze mówili do
Jego uczniów: „Dlaczego wasz Nauczyciel jada wspólnie
z celnikami i grzesznikami?”. On usłyszawszy to, rzekł:
„Nie potrzebują lekarza zdrowi, lecz ci, którzy się źle
mają. [...] Bo nie przyszedłem powoływać sprawiedliwych, ale grzeszników” (Mt 9,9-13). Zapewne wspomniana uczta była pożegnalną. Fakt, że jest mowa o innych
także celnikach, naprowadza nas na przypuszczenie, że

Witold Socha. Jeszcze raz serdecznie wszystkich
zapraszamy.
Czuwanie nocne
W najbliższą sobotę, 23 września
odbędzie się jak co miesiąc czuwanie nocne w naszym kościele Matki
Bożej Częstochowskiej. Rozpoczęcie czuwania o godz. 7:00 p.m. W programie
czuwania m.in. nabożeństwo Drogi Krzyżowej, Różaniec oraz Msza św. Podczas czuwania będzie możliwość skorzystania z sakramentu pokuty.
