In Pbland the problem o,f alcoholism as- w~l as excessive
alcohq~ intake by non-dependants is very serious. They are
potential subjects of acute pOi,soninn. caused by alcohol alone,
its substitutes, acciderital ,and suicidal poisonings due to
various poisons.

Both the health centres dealing'with the treatment of'·t~e
subjects ·w~,'t.h',acute ethyl alcohol poisoning and statistical
chemical poisoning ill Poland, including' alcohol poisoning,
a['e p['esented. A'rise in the morbidi t,y' rate due to acu te
ethyl alcohol pOisoning 'iri the group over the a~e of 14 in
Krakdw was eVident: 4,18/10000 inhibitants in 1972 to 5,71/
10 000_ in 1977. And determined mo['tality rate was approximatel~ 0,66 - 0,88/10 000 inhibitants.
