Basic knowledge of the cultural dimension of Bronze Age and
Early Iron Age

Przedmiotem zajęć jest zapoznanie studentów z przewodnimi
wyrobami metalowymi epoki brązu i wczesnej epoki żelaza
(2000 ‒ 250 BC) na ziemiach polskich, omówienie podstaw ich
datowania, występowania oraz kierunków napływu bądź
potencjalnych miejsc wytwarzania.
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of
selected metal artifacts from the Bronze and Early Iron Age
(2000 ‒ 250 BC). The attention focuses on chronology, spatial
distribution, directions of inflow and potential places of
production bronze, golden and iron items found in the Polish
territory.
Student: 1) uzyskuje zaawansowaną wiedzę na temat
wybranych narzędzi, ozdób, militariów i naczyń metalowych z
epoki brązu i wczesnej epoki żelaza, ich datowania,
występowania oraz miejsc wytwarzania;
2) rozumie terminologię odnoszącą do wyrobów metalowych

Zalecana literatura:
oraz ich znaczenie dla kultury tego okresu pradziejów;
3) posiada umiejętności rozpoznawania poszczególnych
kategorii wyrobów, oceny stopnia zniszczenia, czytania ze
zrozumieniem prac naukowych z tego zakresu, prawidłowego
posługiwania się podstawowymi pojęciami.
Students: 1) gain the advanced knowledge of the selected
Bronze and Early Iron Age tools, ornaments, weapons and
metal vessels, their chronology, distribution and places of
production;
2) gain the understanding of: terminology connected to metal
items and significance of the research on the role those artifacts
played in the II and I millennium BC;
3) gain the skills necessary to: recognize particular
categories of artefacts, read with understanding scientific papers
concerning that subject, correctly use basic terms.
