Selection of Optimal Smoothing Algorithm for Voltammetric Curves
Chem. Anal. (Warsaw), 53, 215 (2008) Selection of Optimal Smoothing Algorithm for Voltammetric Curves by Ma³gorzata Jakubowska*, Ewa Hull, Robert Piech and W³adys³aw W. Kubiak Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics AGH University of Science and Technology al. Mickiewicza 30, 30-059 Kraków Keywords: Evaluation of smoothing; Voltammetry; Analytical parameters An evaluation of smoothing procedures applicable to experimental voltammograms has been described. As a criterion of evaluation, an improvement of the curve shape and analytical parameters has been considered. The proposed algorithm has been implemented during determination of low concentrations of cadmium, lead, thallium, zinc, copper, and arsenic. For each set of the measured curves, the most satisfactory filtering method has been selected taking into account the defined evaluation parameters. The optimal smoothing algorithm was different in each experiment. Application of the described method of filter selection may be automatic when added to the software of intelligent analytical systems. W pracy przedstawiono problem oceny efektów wyg³adzania krzywych woltamperometrycznych. Jako kryterium przyjêto poprawê kszta³tu krzywych i parametrów analitycznych metody. Zaproponowany algorytm wykorzystano podczas oznaczania niskich stê¿eñ kadmu, o³owiu, talu, cynku, miedzi oraz arsenu. Bior¹c pod uwagê zdefiniowane parametry ewaluacyjne, dla ka¿dego zestawu krzywych eksperymentalnych wskazano optymaln¹ metodê filtracji. W ka¿dym z dowiadczeñ inny algorytm wyg³adzania dawa³ najlepszy efekt wyg³adzenia. W ten sposób udowodniono przydatnoæ proponowanego podejcia, które mo¿e tak¿e znaleæ zastosowanie w inteligentnych systemach pomiarowych, gdzie przetwarzanie krzywych odbywa siê automatycznie. * Corresponding author.
