Migrant & Refugee Crisis Emergency Appeal Catholic Relief Services is working with Church partners in Greece, Albania, Macedonia and Serbia to provide immediate assistance, including food, water, sanitation, medical care, legal services and trauma counseling. CRS and partners will adapt programming to meet the rapidly changing needs on the ground, remaining faithful to our principles to support those in greatest need, regardless of national, religious and ideological beliefs. Conflicts, civil strife and economic conditions in the Middle East, Asia and Africa have dramatically increased the flow of refugees and economic migrants to Europe. As the Syrian conflict enters its fifth year, a combination of desperation and hope is leading growing numbers of Syrians to attempt an extremely perilous journey toward Europe. Harrowing stories have emerged of death, starvation and abuse at the hands of people smugglers. This year 2,000 Syrians have drowned in the Mediterranean in their attempt to reach European shores. To donate; either put a donation in an envelope marked Catholic Relief Services/Syrians & drop in the brown box in middle of church or mail it to: Migrant & Refugee Crisis Emergency Appeal, CRS, 3525 S. Page Four St. William MASS FOR HOPE & HEALING Saturday, October 17, at 9:30 a.m. Holy Family Church, 1080 West Roosevelt Road, Chicago, will have a Mass to promote healing for victims-survivors of child and youth sexual abuse, and for their families; and for calling the Catholic Community and society to continued vigilance, honoring Christ's mandate to protect the dignity and sanctity of all of God's children. Why is our parish named after St. William? The booklet written for the dedication of the church in 1960 states that “Since there was no church named for St. William in the Archdiocese, then St. William would have plenty of time in heaven to devote to this new church.” Another idea is that the founding families had many men named William. Choose the reason that you like! Have you noticed the logo for our 100th anniversary and wonder the inspiration was behind it? The cross is not just the cross of Jesus, but it is the shape of our church from up high in the sky. It is also a reminder of our church spire. The Star of Bethlehem behind the cross is the same one that is on the mosaic behind the altar. Are you starting to get hungry? Don’t forget our International Octoberfest on Sunday, October 11th. On chce być z nami wszędzie, zaprasza nas do cichej z Nim przyjaźni. 2. Mówi On im i nam: Chcesz być pierwszy, bądź ostatni i bądź sługą wszystkich (Mk 9,35). Zapraszam do parafii św. Williama na spotkanie biblijne w piątek, 25 września, godz. 7:30pm na plebanii!
